MrBrownJay1: The problem starts when one becomes infected and pass it to humans. Most times, it is not even eating it that transfers the virus, it is handling the infected ones when they are being butchered. Besides unlike Africans who cook properly, these Asians don't properly cook their meat. I was shocked to see a delicacy in an Asian restaurant where the meat (small octopus) had raw blood on it and people were eating. Imagine if that meat was infected with a virus. That is why these epidemics happen once a while and not regularly While domestic animals like chicken, goat, cows etc get infected once a while, they hardly generate these deadly viruses that gets transferred to humans and this is the luck we have. However, these wild animals are different, there infections are deadly. Lastly, there are viruses created in the lab for sure. Some are created as a bioweapon while some are created to develop a vaccine against other potential viruses. However, any virus created in the lab will have a different type of genetic code to natural viruses and this is easy to spot even to student labs and scientists. |

MrBrownJay1: I didn't understand the question, but yes, stopping consumption (and interaction) of these animals solve the problem (of it spreading and increasing infections of others): Those who did not eat infected cows did not suffer from mad-cow disease. Banning the consumption of cows by cows also solved the problem. Killing infected birds/pigs, in addition to farm sanitization; as well as removing potentially infected meat from the market solved the problem. Ebola is no longer a pandemic, due to people understanding how it spreads - and more importantly - its source. Not messing with bats, including eating them, has solved the problem. If someone already has the various diseases, then they have it - they can't un-eat it or un-sneeze it. With luck, they will be among the percentage that survive. Keep in mind these viruses are latent and natural to their hosts. They have not been erased from existence. What we now understand is how to prevent their spread. This is what I mean by "solve the problem". The problem is not that the virus exists, it's that it spreads and kills more people than the strains we have learned to live with. 2 Likes |

ReneeNuttall: Hilarious comment... You seem to have forgotten how the love of "bat peppersoup" helped to a great extent in the spread of the deadly Ebola virus here in Africa- particularly Guinea. Even the government had to ban the sale of all bat meat-based dishes. How do you guys forget these things so quickly https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/27/world/africa/guinea-government-bans-bat-soup-to-halt-ebola-outbreak.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjPpIzpzKHoAhWOzaQKHRDXB0EQFnoECAMQAg&usg=AOvVaw2VWvE3uLCa4FvtY0Fpbtfe 1 Like |

ReneeNuttall:it's a man-made virus. Ebola is too. You know what you see in movies, where the bad guys build some sort of bio chemical weapon and plan to infect the air with some bio shitt? It's exactly what happened with Ebola and covid. They'll find the vaccine. It's really not bats or whatever. |

MrBrownJay1: Prior to the seventies and eighties, you could pick a random partner and have sex without protection and not be scared of HIV/AIDS. Doing that today is gambling with you life. Many many decades ago, you could scoop water from the river and drink without issues. Today, doing that is playing with your life. The reality is that with polluted rivers, toxic wastes and what have you finding their way into rivers, oceans and dumpsites from which wild animals feed, you eat wild animals at your own risk!!! Furthermore, drugs act differently in various animals and the fact that some animals feed on others may create chemical reactions that lead to other issues. For example Vultures in India have been found to die after feeding on cattle that was treated with Diclofenac. (source: https://www.thenational.ae/world/asia/vultures-in-india-close-to-extinction-because-of-cattle-drug-1.361882) Poultry and cattle reared under watchful conditions are safer because often times what they eat is regulated. We shouldn't be in a haste to label warnings as rubbish because we have not given them the deep though and analysis it requires! 1 Like |

MrBrownJay1: easier to just stop eating exotic animals than to spend a billion dollars cooking up drugs to cure 50% fatal hemorrhagic fevers like ebola etc. they are not dietary staples or anything, nobody will get protein deficiency or die if we don't eat them, it's just greed and a lack of responsibility for the self and the environment that make asians and africans eat these bizarre (and most times endangered) animals 2 Likes |

OruExpress: they are not dirty just that they harbour exotic pathogens that our bodies are unused to. humanity is long overdue for a cull in actual fact, our bloated population has become a scourge on the biosphere and this earth is set to purge itself. what better way to do that than a pandemic like this, since humans will never act responsibly towards their environment 1 Like |
