Few hour ago, Nigeria has recorded third case of Coronavirus, despite the fresh case, Nigerian doctors in the county, Abuja, on Tuesday announced they were proceeding on an “indefinite strike”, Voiceairmedia reports.

The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Abuja chapter, announced their decision about an hour after the third case of Covid19 was confirmed in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos.

The doctors said they deliberated extensively on the health threat posed by the coronavirus scare, their work conditions, and patient care before arriving at the “difficult decision.”

In a statement signed by its president, Roland Aigbovo, the association said the mass action followed the failure of the FCT administration to pay them their basic salaries for more than two months.

Mr Aigbovo said their members have been thrown into financial distressing due to the nonpayment of their salaries and despite repeated warnings and ultimatum, nothing has been done by authorities.

He said there has been salary irregularities and shortfalls since the migration to the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System by the FCTA.

Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Abuja chapterThe union leader said other health workers who are also affected by the salary shortfalls will join the mass action within 48 hours if their demands “which are the same with ours are not met.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Tuesday confirmed the third case of coronavirus in Nigeria.

Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, broke the news to journalists at the government secretariat Tuesday morning.

“This is a new case independent of the index case of a 30 year-old Nigerian, female, who returned from the UK on 13th March,” the commissioner said.

Mr Abayomi said the patient, who initially showed symptoms of the infection, observed self-Isolation, and thereafter tested positive.

Today, March 17th 2020, CNN is reporting TWENTY American doctors who have fallen sick from Corona virus in just the past 24 hours.

The disease is spreading EXPONENTIALLY every day, and the testing kits are woefully inadequate in number, meaning that the infection rate is bound to be significantly higher than the totals being announced by TV news networks on an hourly basis. The rate of new hospital admissions throughout the USA, has increased from a trickle, to a building torrent of new victims making their way into hospitals in search of medical salvation.

Not since the Second World War has the modern world witnessed a looming danger as utterly terrifying as the threat posed to humanity by the Corona virus. In light of global events that everyone is following on CNN, it is therefore NOT surprising that Nigerian doctors are set to stage a strike that will remove them from hospitals at the time when the risk of their getting infected and later dying on the job, is seen to be growing with such alarming speed all over this planet, without respect for geographical boundaries.

Surprise, surprise, surprised!

What did they do during the time of Ebola? Any difference?

Yet one of them claimed Nigerian trained doctors are sought all over the world. Right, to drive cabs?

God bless those doctors that left everything and came home.

Personally, I am in full support of the doctors. Our government haven't really given them the support they deserve despite being the most susceptible to contract the disease amongst citizens.

Imagine if the president had imposed travel ban on certain countries, probably, the case or story might or would be different.

It is high time Nigerians realise that our president and politicians care less about our welfare and well being

May God help us all
Stay safe

Best time to go on strike..... Their voices will be heard...

Government wants to open border and yet wants doctors to treat any corona virus infected persons.....

Let the law makers show commitment to the nation and volunteer their services to the quarantine clinics.

Oshey white man, it's not too late for you to write jamb and spend 8-10years in a Nigerian University to become a medical doctor o.

Then add 2-3 years to become a Resident too. Once you are done, start practicing for free. Nonsense

We didn't know it's in the 'Hypocritical Oath' to owe physicians salaries for months.

It's called Hippocratic Oath. Olodo rabata

Let them strike, hazard allowance is still 5k in government hospitals and non existent in private hospitals. 5k is not enough to catch coronavirus. Let us stay at home.

Let me stop right there. Increase your pomposity value in the eyes of naive folks but please do not do it for all.

United States and Canada have the highest number of years in training because you have to have first degree to go into medical school, not in Nigeria not in Britain.

You may be referring to days when university strikes were common.

This is the type of reasoning that makes new medical graduates think "Nigerian doctors are in demand all over the world".

Another lie.

Search around for your colleagues

Look at this ingrate and potential talent Launderer. A cab is waiting for you to drive in Canada, security in USA and farms in Italy if you ever get any visa.

Your professors that taught you in school that left comfortable homes and salaries to come back home and fight for your survival are fools, abi.

Covid-19 is biting, you are on strike, Ebola was biting you were on strike. Yet, you come out and take credit.

What is the difference between you and the money launderers?

Wait, when Nigeria realize that you are being trained for foreign markets, they will go back to Prof. Olikoye Kuti days and train more Community Health Officers to meet the Country needs like all the countries you are running to.

Including China, India and Russia of all places. Not to mention Physician Assistants in the Western world under who you take supervision as technicians.

Let your colleagues keep enticing you into slavery. Ode.

BTW, none of friends enticing you abroad told you bricklayers make more money than you in your wasted positions abroad?
