Oppo Reno3 Launches Internationally With Mediatek's Helio P90 Chipset & 48MP Cam by beejayvince(m): 7:12am On Mar 19, 2020
Oppo launched the Reno3 and Reno3 Pro devices in China back in December 2019. The Reno3 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L chipset. On the other hand, the Pro variant uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chip. The Snapdragon 765G is also used in the Redmi K30 and the Redmi K30 5G.

Oppo launched the Reno3 Pro internationally earlier this month. It comes with some features that are frankly different from what the Chinese version offers. Instead of the Snapdragon 765, the device sports MediaTek’s Helio P95 chipset. Also, there is a camera upgrade from the Chinese variant’s 48MP primary shooter to a 64MP shooter.

Now, Oppo has launched the Reno3 too internationally. Like the Reno3 Pro, the international version of the Reno3 is different from the Chinese version. According to reports, the international version of the Oppo Reno 3 ditched the Dimensity 1000L chip. It instead uses a MediaTek Helio P90 SoC.

The camera specs are also different, even though both variants sport quad-camera setups. While the Chinese variant of the Oppo Reno3 sports a 64MP Sony IMX 686 primary shooter, the international version uses a 48MP primary sensor. Along with this are a 13MP telephoto zoom lens, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP monochrome depth sensor. The front camera of the international variant sees an upgrade from the Chinese variant’s 32MP to 44MP.

Also, unlike the Chinese variant, the international variant of the Reno3 only goes as high as 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The Oppo Reno3 sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The device runs ColorOS 7 based on Android 10. It is powered by a 4,025mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge.

We do not yet have information about the international pricing of the Oppo Reno3. However, considering that it does not use the more premium Dimensity 1000L chip, it will likely be cheaper than the Chinese variant’s CNY 3,399 (~480) starting price. Reports have it that the device is on Oppo Sri Lanka’s website in Midnight Black and Auroral Blue color options.

much informative, thanks. Only the Chinese variant has the Mediatek 5G chip, most other places its launching with Mediatek Helio P90 which a powerful chipset in itself. I think its because most countries are still not fully equipped for 5G.

Just came across the following giveaway link, I think everyone who is craving to get their hands on Oppo Reno 3 should participate:

according to me the most important features are AI camera enhanced with mediatek helio P90 chip and its extra immersive display. What's your opinion on this?

Since 5G has not arrived in most parts of the world, I think the 4G variants of Oppo reno3 series with Mediatek Helio chipsets too are doing really well.

that'/s precisely the reason why Oppo Reno 3 could not launch globally with the mediatek dimansity 1000 chip and had to launch with helio P90 instead...maybe once more countries get 5G ready...they launch another phone with the dimensity chip

You are absolutely right. The new MediaTek chipsets are doing so good and better than Snapdragon or Exynos processors.

Yes and now finally Oppo Reno 3 has made its way to Kenya!

https://techweez.com/2020/04/27/oppo-reno3-first-impressions-this-is-a-pretty-phone/

It sure is a pretty, light-weight smartphone by Oppo just like most of their elegant looking smartphones. Comes with some amazing features like the following:
6.4-inch AMOLED display (1080 x 2400 pixels screen resolution)
ColorOS 7 operating system based on Android 10
Mediatek Helio P90 chipset
8GB RAM + 128GB storage
4025 mAh battery with fast charging at 30W aka VOOC 3.0
Under the display fingerprint reader
44 MP selfie camera
48 MP + 13 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP quad-cam setup

The price in Kenya is KES 40,000. How many of you are already up for buying it?
