Here in the UK , the Prime Minister has announced unprecendented wide ranging measures to reduce the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy and it's most vulnerable citizens in particular. For example ; • The most vulnerable in society will receive £2,000 in addition to existing welfare benefits. • Anyone laid off work will be supported by the government till this crisis is over • Workers will have up to 80% of their salaries paid by the government to alleviate the burden on employers and prevent the risk of retrenchment The recurring theme is that the secular government will step up to help the most vulnerable and weak in society and workers at risk till this plague is past. So , My questions to Nigerian pastors during this period of coronavirus , are as follows ; Will you : • Stop taking tithes from those who barely have enough to survive? • Ask your church members who may be worried about their future livelihoods to stop paying tithes for at least 6 months? • Sell some of your possessions and real estate, to help the poorest members and most vulnerable people in your congregations? • Make your churches available to tender for the old, sick and weak during this crisis? • Show the unbelieving governments around the world what Christ really stands for ? • Scale down offerings from those who are struggling? • Help your struggling members pay their rent , bills and buy food ? Will you obey these timely scriptures : " All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. - Acts 4 : 32-35 and "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." - Matthew 19:21 1 Like |

Ladylite: To people who are not rich like you, 10% tithes plus offerings etc is a lot of money, especially as they have very low paying jobs or have businesses with no consistent in flow of revenue. |

Ladylite: The okra seller in your street. after selling a few okras a day, under rain and sun, she sows seeds because pastor says God will multiply her blessings. she gives offerings and dances on whenever there's a call for random donations. since she's a local person that don't know how to calculate anything, she fetches big portions from her coins realized from the sales of a few okra, so that she can tithe, and receive God's blessings, so that maybe one day, God might be merciful and bless her or her poor children for all her generous efforts, even though, through her expenditures, she is depriving her family of a good life, and her kids can't even feed or go to school. God comes first right? now there are many people in Nigeria like this woman. they don't stop giving to church but never give themselves or their poorer needy neighbors. they've been told that to be blessed they must give, so they give, even if they'll go hungry for days. they convert starvation to fasting, and pray after giving because they want to be blessed richly. tithes, offerings, seed sowing, name it. they want the abundant blessings of God, you name it. but in reality, they're all wasting their time, efforts, lives, and money, enriching different criminals in suits, hoping for the blessings of a God who has never, and will never respond to humans till the end of time. 7 Likes 1 Share |

frosbel2: When Jehovah's Witnesses are telling you people "THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THAT" you keep arguing profusely because that's what your former misinformed religious leaders taught you. Now you're expecting them to act on lies that they've been feeding you when they're collecting your money! Jehovah's Witnesses have told you the truth! "There is nothing like healing now" All nah arrangee! What Jesus promised his followers is God's kingdom NOT power to continue healing themselves anytime they feel like! |

frosbel2: How does the church comes into your essay here. You have an illogical basis for your discussion. UK, government...... Nigeria, Pastor..... What is the basis, if you can manipulate direct discussion like this, don't you think you can be a grand master of manipulating the scriptures. There is no right basis for your discussion unless you present a logical analysis. |

Ladylite: Yes, if some of the money has been saved then there should be a pot of money that can be used as a hardship fund. |
