"Love not the World" does not mean you should be irresponsible and useless to the World, it means you should not allow your Soul to be trapped by the devil through your lust for the possession of this temporary World. So, he envied man with indescribable jealousy and hates that GOD gave Man dominion and rulership of the physical Universe. To get control/dominion of the World back and satisfy the inner Adamic hunger of ownership of the World, man needs higher knowledge/powers.
