Our political leaders' past present will understand why we need to develop our health care and strengthen the system. Many of our brightest minds in health sectors are outside of the country, contributing and developing other systems both in Africa and other continents. Everything in the country is man must no man to get it done including job; as medical doctor other health care professionals. I don't pray for anyone's family to be affected by this virus but after all the storm, we would learn the hard lesson and return to the time of Awolowo, Sadaona and Zik when leaders are the servants and proud of providing quality and not mushroom health care system. The current crops of leaders will prefer to go abroad for health care while the general masses are at the mercies of quakes and the weak, poorly equipped and impoverished hospitals and medical centers. God will certainly judge all our leaders one way or the other. Nonetheless, I wish Atiku's son quickest recovery with no complication

why can't you can volunteer and put your life on the line to fight coronavirus?.

Money is a big motivator, job satisfaction is another. Trust me when I say that doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare workers are not satisfied working and not well paid in Nigeria.

They are gladly fighting on the front line abroad.
This is the perfect time for them to call for a strike.

It shouldn't be like that. In other saner countries you can walk into any hospital and request to get tested. You can even call a medic and they will come and take your samples at home if you are isolating yourself and don't want to go out. They will then send the result to you.
The CDC is wrong, not like Millions of funds has not been released by the ministry of health to address this.
The OP requested the test so he could get access to see an ENT doctor.

Pls can u mention the saner climate where u get tested simply on request...

I can only imagine how they said it especially if they were from a certain tribe.

The fact/truth is that our medical personnel and facilities are not equipped to handle this situation. If an outbreak occurs, then it's OYO for everyone.

Tribalist spotted.

With Racists like you, Nigeria can never grow.

In British politics, German politics, even United States, you hear of Nigerians votted into political offices. Voters overlook their color, race and even stigma of coming from a shithole country and vote them as county representatives, some are colonels in the army, serving in several political and official capacities.

These Nigerians are votted based on their capacity to deliver value and good service. Not color or tribe.

But what do we see online on Nairaland and in Nigerian politics ? People who HATE people based on the state they come from inside thesame country, Nigeria.

Some of you reason like Animals.

Each tribe has a funny accent and body language when speaking, It's something we (Nigerians) all joke about everywhere.

Covid test in Britain is £400 in Harley Street. Majority cannot get Covid Test, we're informed here that Covid Test kit for the masses is under development and may be with us in two weeks. Why does Nigerians criticise Nigeria so unfairly and, yes, unrlitstcally7 like this?
Do you reside in Britain ?Let start from there .

I've been sitting here with one guy since 1hr plus now and there is no one that has attended to us and all the nurses were just going up and down.
What made me to sit this long was because of this ENT issue at LUTH if not for that, i wouldnt have waited this long just to get tested.
-i noticed that the staffs were being reluctant to carryout the test or maybe they dont have the test kit, and if the later is the issue then its a A BIG SHAME.

I cant wait any longer, i'll have to go and wait until (if) the pandemic is over.
My FELLOW NIGERIANS, MAY GOD HELP US IN THIS COVID-19 ISSUE.

Pls go and corroborate my story and if anyone have any idea on how to get tested and the procedures involved, let the person share with us.

Relax dear.. There's one good thing I've learnt from this life as a Christian and that good thing is to leave everything to God that I can't handle myself. I'll encourage you to pray and leave everything to God seeing that you can't do much on your own (since you no be Buhari pikin wink )

As this Covid-19 is beyond human power, I have as well left it in God's Hands praying and believing He will bring it to an end soonest all to His praise and glory

This poor attitude is a daily occurrence in our public hospitals across Nigeria. Worst of all is that there is nobody to complain to. You just take every blow on your chin and hope for the best.

@bolden:

By the time you hala them on all their social media handles as well as put a call through to them to complain, I'm sure they'll definitely apologise for their actions (it may not be as you want it but at least better than doing nothing). After I did same with Ikeja Electric, I received some calls from them apologising and asking if the issue has been resolved (that's after they've taken so long to respond). We can't just fold our arms and do nothing. Take actions! Do something!!!

A pandemic is not an emergency. She is not superman

I guess those doctors who handled China's crisis, those that are handling Iran and Italy crisis are superhuman! This one did not even see any patient with Coronavirus symptoms o, just normal patients that came for ENT problems. I ask again: what was she doing at the hospital since she already made up her mind? She should have better stayed at home, guess she wanted to clock in just for her monthly salary. Imagine a doctor in a private hospital refusing to attend to patients with no symptoms of CoronaVirus!

You need to qurantine yourself immediately for 14 days at least, stay away at a wide distance from your family members and explain to them why they need to be away from you. Monitor yourself, you may actually be fine.

With all due respect....
PEOPLE SHOULD STOP WASTING SCARCE TESTING RESOURCES!

COVID-19 testing is NOT cheap...
And the needed re-agents are in SHORT SUPPLY, because every nation across the world needs it!

Unless, there is a real reason (contact tracing, etc) to suspect so...
Not every Tunde, Dike, or Haruna can just stroll into the CDC to demand a test.
