Scientists have warned that it is a matter of time before the world experiences another pandemic has it is currently experiencing with the COVID-19.

According to a marine scientist, Eric Sala, of the National Geographic stated that as human population grows and a need for food from wildlife also grows, there is a high probability that more pandemics would come.

'I'm absolutely sure that there are going to be more diseases like this in future if we continue with our practices of destroying the world,' Sala told The Independent.

The current world population has been estimated to be around 7.7 billion and expected to rise to 9.7 billion which would cause more deforestation has human needs grow.

The COVID-19, like SARS, was said to have started from CHINA, a country known for its wildlife market for food.

As the incursion into wildlife territory intensifies, the world has been plagued with series of animal related viruses and diseases with no cure of any in sight.

Diseases like HIV, Ebola, SARS, MERS and Zika, bird flu are all due to human contacts with animals

While speaking to The Independent, Dr Samuel Myers from the Planetary Health Alliance said, "What we know is that other animals are an enormous reservoir of pathogens, many of which we haven't yet been exposed to."

The fear is that subsequent pandemic might be worse than the previous as the COVID-19 found to be deadlier than SARS or MERS.

David Quammen, an expert in infectious diseases noted that if we get COVID-19 under check and control, then the world has be prepared for the next big one.

COVID-19 has so far killed more than 7,000 people worldwide with infection not showing signs of slowing down.

High number of recoveries have, however, been recorded too, as a 95-year-old grandmother in Italy fully recovers without any antiviral therapy.
