It was a truck loaded with dynamites. If it was a terror attack as you claim, will a serious terrorist strike a lonely road in the outskirts of town around 1am, far away from occupied houses, where there is no possibility of casualties?
it is neither terrorists or dynamites... What re the police using dynamites for since they stupidly claimed responsibility? Also where the carcass of the truck? From the shape and details, that's not a crater caused by explosives...That sh!t was created by a small piece of meteorite. Pieces of foreign rocks and metals were found on the site with water oozing from some parts of the crater.

meteorites don't displace soil particles in any way, meteorites solidify soil particles and kind of push the whole thing inside, making a hole...that stuff is far from being a meteorite or astroid or anything from space, it's an explosive/bomb, bombs tend to displace particles and that's why it cause alot of damage

People this is the right thread to ask this question. When I was young, living in Ogoja cross river state, some few minutes past six after a light rain shower something unimaginable came from the sky like a huge ball of red light creating a thunder like noise in the sky and landed in an open grassland creating partial darkness by creating half current to electricity supply throughout the small town of Igoli. The impact was huge and threatening and it happened few meters away from our house.

The following day, I went to the location to ascertain what hit the town only to discover a football shaped ball of steel buried in a meter hole sweeping the entire area with shockwaves. I was able to hull it out of the hole but too heavy, I just dropped it there and went away.

The little town believe it was a lightning strike but only me saw what landed cos it happened at close proximity with me witnessing first hand.

Now my people, who can tell what it is. A smooth ball of steel?

And who do you report this Discovery to?

According to all scientific research there is nothing like lightening steel of ball...... It might has been an alien object which should have been subject to more investigation.

If it wasn't a steel, if it was white and transparent charged ball that was moving, I would have said that it is a lightening ball.

Are you with the object now, if yes I will drop my number for you to contact me...... Please don't hide such an important Discovery, it will be beneficial to us all

Not every stellar object falling on the earth is pick up by NASA satellite, are you aware that every year millions of mini asteroid is falling all over the earth without being detected by satellite..,. This might be one of those case ,it is just that this one is a bit bigger than the micro ones

There were no casualties because the police EOD team escorting the shipment said that when they noticed smoke from the engine of the truck, they had to move it as far as possible from where there are houses before clearing by the road.

They then tried to stop the smoke but we're unsuccessful as a small fire started coming out of the engine.

At this point, the EOD police advised that they move very far away from the truck with the rest of the vehicles knowing fully well it would explode.

This account was given by the Ondo State Police Commissioner and it makes sense.

The fragments of the blown up truck must have landed miles away from the explosion site so you cannot find a wrecked lying there.

The commissioner should be fired for escorting trucks that are not road-worthy.

One of the tests for road worthiness is that vehicle operators must have fire extinguisher.

In particular a truck shipping explosives is no different from a petrol tanker with flammable fluid and must not be allowed on the road without fire extinguisher.

Fire extinguisher is designed precisely for the root cause the commissioner described and will quickly kill smoke, smoulder and small fires on and around the truck transporting hazardous materials.

The commissioner flouted law.

This is undoubtedly a meteorite strike, the impact crater, reports of loud and bright light, followed by a shock wave. Fact that we aren't too scientifically inclined about all this out world rock bodies, this happens in the upper hemisphere all the time...

Depending on the charge used and the rigger ,if it a nitroglycerin based bomb the rigger might right many charges together to go off as one huge charge blast but for C-composition RDX based charge like I suspect was used here because of the blast signature on single charge is usually deployed .

Nice analyst, but could you explain 4 and 5 more I don't understand it

4. Is the position of something previously put under ground, later bringing itself out forcefully. It will disturb the soil in which it is buried. When examined the location where the incidence happened will have characteristics consistent with the crater in Akure.

5. Is the argument offered by police that it was accidental discharge from explosives sitting on a transporting truck that caught fire and set off the dynamites. We have a crater resulting from the explosion. The crater does not agree with signature of surface to ground energy impact.

Questions are being asked now -- good one.

We need to get to the bottom of this with undisputable facts and evidences, whichever part of the discussion we belong.

P.S. I expected more insight though from the Prof., we need more inputs from other experts and witnesses.

The drone pictures should have covered both the road scene and the building debris scene together so we can really understand the trajectory of the explosion/impact.

It wasn't like a piece of rock but a round ball of steel/ metal. Not white either and this occurred around 1991

It came down with a thunderous bang causing electricity low voltage.

...and it was still hot when I pull it out from the ground it sunk the following day.
Re: Aerial Pictures Of Akure Explosion by bigtt76(f): 6:00pm On Mar 29, 2020
NASA would've come up with that information if any. They track all meteorites heading towards earth and I think they also have a way of trying to shoot it down if it is deemed a threat.

The best answer to this is still meteorite....But we dont have people to carry out such investigations that's why they made up the explosives to calm your nerves

Its only a bomb or bombs that can create such a crater.

Did particles of the exploded truck enter into the ground as well. No sign at all to show it was a truck with explosives .

I like the way you reason and explain the compression of surface soil.....I think your explanation tells more it is a meteorite impact because u will see part of the tarred road compressed into that carter

SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS FROM THE BLAST SITE AT AKURE

From the Blast site at Akure. My Research group carried out a detailed analysis of the impact site. A circular impact crater with 21m diameter and 7.8m depth was found which suggest a natural phenomenal. Water was found oozing out from the edges of the crater. A preliminary insitu vibration, noise, seismicity, water analysis, radioactivity studies, rock and soil investigation were carried out. Our findings suggest that the impact of the blasting covers 1km radius of the surroundings of the crater. No evidence of fire or Burning of anything was found within the vicinity. No evidence of radioactivity radiation was found within the crater and immediate vicinity. The field evidence point to a conclusion that A METEORIC FROM AN ASTEROID BELT THAT TRAVELS AT A GREAT SPEED FROM SPACE IMPACTED THE LOCATION AT AN ANGLE OF 43 degrees created an ejecta at South-Western part. No evidence of buried vehicle, buried ordinance or IED was found. However, crack opening that vary in thickness from 3mm to 4metres occurs on the wall of most of the buildings but not at the base of the buildings. Also, foreign rocks and strange metallic objects we're found within the crater. Most of the destruction occurs on top and roof/ceilings of the buildings. Thank you, Professor Adepelumi A. A (Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife).

You said dynamites in transit are not highly explosive? Pls click and read the story below. In the case being reported, all it took to blow up the truck conveying the dynamites to site was a snipers bullet.

Nice Fact But I Want You To Relate This Fact To The Incident Because It Can Not Be The Same Scenerio In This Instance, Has Their Been A Report Of Any Missing Truck Of Dynamite And What Is The Evidence Presented?
Re: Aerial Pictures Of Akure Explosion by snthesis(m): 12:55am On Mar 30, 2020
I’ve read all post up to this point and not one post cared to mention the “why”.

1. If a meteor fragment indeed caused the crater “why” would the govt be in denial and claim responsibility for a natural phenomenon. That obviously debunks the issue of a meteorite being the causative issue.

2. Alien landing - quite feasible “ that could give an answer to “why” the govt would want to cover the scenario

3. A dropped Bomb- well that would explain the crater and also provide an answer to “why” the govt is claiming responsibility to avoid a panic situation

God bless you , i dont know how ppl will believe that a dynamite no matter how powerful will excavate such amount of earth , secondly they have not shown us the left over of the exploded vehicle , at least there should be some remnants from the exploded vehicle
My own take on this issue is that that was a meteor that hit Nigeria , it is not an unusual thing and even common in some countries , this particular one was even observed in Usa but they couldn't pinpoint the actual place it landed and they even reported that a meteor landed on earth.

https://www.ibtimes.com/us-residents-watch-asteroid-hits-earth-creates-bright-fireball-event-2947635

"Residents from various states in the U.S. spotted a bright fireball streaking across the night sky. Based on eyewitness reports, the fireball was most likely caused by a small asteroid colliding with Earth and burning up in the atmosphere.

According to the data gathered by the American Meteor Society, the incident occurred on March 25 at around 10:40 p.m. EDT. In total, the organization received seven eyewitness reports from different individuals."

As noted in the reports, the recent fireball event was spotted by residents from different states in the U.S. such as Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New York. Many of them noted that the fireball appeared brightly in the sky.

A resident named Lee R. from Langhorne, Pennsylvania stated that the fireball appeared to have changed colors. Unfortunately, since it passed through clouds, he did not see the other colors of the cosmic object.

An eyewitness from Pennsylvania named Dan D. reported that he saw how the fireball changed colors. He believed this occurred when the object entered Earth’s atmosphere."

please take note of the time , this was exactly the same time the explosion occurred in nigeria , it was early morning time in Nigeria

it is obvious the story the police are giving doesn't add up

You are wrong about the day and time. The event in the USA happened 10:40PM (Eastern, US) on March 25 which was 03:40 AM (Nigerian time) on March 26th which was a Thursday. The blast in Akure happened on early morning of Saturday, March 28th. Nonetheless, I am inclined to believe it was a meteor strike.
