Read the Quarantine Act that gave the president the power to make these regulations.

We all need to make personal sacrifices for our own survival.

Those that are too learned to accept that the federal government can effect such lockdown, should sue the government after they have survived this pandemic and the courts are reopened to entertain such learned survivors.

Some lawyers that initially claimed that the president lacked the power to lock down the FCT, Lagos and Ogun states, later admitted that he has the powers and that they were granted to him by the Quarantine Act. However, they threatened to sue the president if he didn't give notice of the regulations by which he was imposing these restrictions.

The Quarantine Act requires the president to make these regulations.

The president waited until the last minute before he made the regulations public.

Medicine after death...after you don declare unlawful and undemocratic state of emergency, this should have been done before you came out to shut down a state.atleast the US and NY case is most recent and is supposed to guide you and your confused aides.
Btw did the attorney general and the National Assembly accend to this?

For those that might want to refer to the date that the initial law was enacted (thinking that it somehow invalidates the law) they need to know the sources of Nigerian law.

naptu2:

Sources of Nigerian law:

1) The Constitution

2) Acts of the national and state assemblies. (Decrees and edicts of military governments are now considered as acts of the state or national assembly)

3) Received English Law (Common Law, Doctrines of Equity, Statutes of General Application/laws made by the colonial government).

4) Judicial Precedent (court judgements).

5) Customary law (including sharia law).

6) Delegated legislation (Administrative agencies' regulations and rulings).

7) Historical, Literary or Formal sources (including latin maxims).

Now, I hope those lawyers who were jumping the gun as though the Attorney General is a dunce will move on.

Meanwhile, instead of moving on, some habitual wailers will begin a new propaganda that the paper on the which the signed COVID-19 Regulations (2020) was printed was of wrong grammage and that Pres. Buhari shouldn't have signed. SHM

I pray this outbreak make Europe return back to their Christian root. They have become increasingly atheist leaving their Christian root.

They sing sweet songs in the stadium but do not compose any for God. They have also closed down their worship centres and sold them to clubs.
Look at how they promote homo sexual-ism and lesbianism. Their latest stupidity involves the production of sex dols.

A whole Europe, known for their catholic faith, hardly do they fast or even recognise Lenten season these days.

Time to return to God is now.

BTW, now that people are rapidly recovering from this virus, all those who used this 'coro' to display their stupidity by wishing it for those who don't belong to their political party will be highly disappointed and sad.

Just look at this fool!
The AG should assent to it?

Some of you people talk nonsense as if commonsense is a taboo where you come from. Buhari is advised by Senior Advocates and Eminent Jurists and one idiot who doesn't even know the existence of the enabling legislation is busy arguing stupidly.

If they born your father well, enter road today. They have put sojo out cos of people like you. Let Corporal Garuba use bulala customize your destiny.

As part of the regulations also, the president granted exemption for the financial and money markets to run very skeletal activities and to ensure that Nigerians can still perform online transactions and as well use their ATMs during the period. prepaidcardstatus

there is no substance in this regulation. stay home, stay home and see it as a patriotic duty to stay home. stay home does not help the average nigerian. no light. no food. no hospitals. no survival. how can you stay home when you have no home? a high percentage of lagosians are homeless. where will they stay? if the citizens have a patriotic duty to stay home, what then is the duty of the government? most nigerians are jobless and some survive on wages. how will those ones survive now? how will they feed their families?
what is the government's package for those people? that is the question. what is the president doing at this time to ensure that those people do not die of hunger while staying home.
the regulation says that the ministry will work to ensure... what, in detail will the ministries do the regulation does not detail out
so, you cannot hold the government to any responsibility. just stay home and die, that's all.
china did not lock down the entire country when they were the epicenter of this virus. you cannot lock down the entire country and open up the ports to keep exporting oil. the government is not affected at all in this lockdown but the common man.
the government said they are prepared for this. what is the preparation? does anyone spray disinfectant in your streets?
china, built hospitals in 10 days cos they lacked enough hospitals. Nigerians lack hospitals at this point so why not start building hospitals now seeing that they have failed before?
why not start constructing malls for grocery shoppers now instead of dirty open markets? why not ask landlords to relax on rents and bills for now? why not ask NEPA to relax on bills? how will the non-hobnobs feed while staying home? how will people get their salaries for March? is there any directives to employers? how will the local pharmacies get drugs for other maladies? is "stay home" the preparedness of this government ever since?
there are details that should be implicit in a regulation. India, for example, is to Spend $22.5 Billion to Help Poor Survive Coronavirus. they promised to provide food and sustenance. china made arrangements for shops to supply food supplies to residents in Wuhan communities.
so what is the detail in this regulation?
staying home is not bad but what are the clauses? the government has a duty in response to staying home. lockdown begins with a curfew, not this kinda lockdown. you cannot just lock a country down over 2 deaths. start with a curfew and close up schools and some sectors. there is no way you can achieve this lockdown. even Egypt, the highest hit by the virus is not on this kinda lockdown
some people are just shouting stay home for no reason. after one month of staying home, you will beg to come outside. hunger will push the average man out and at that point, you will know that a hungry man is lethal. y'all prepare for a new wave of criminality.
