COVID19: Story of Patient Who Escaped from An Isolation Centre And Died In LUTH by noblealuu: 1:44am On Apr 04, 2020
A man came to LUTH Lagos.
Said he had only fever/tiredness.

But he had cough and just came back from Europe- but family hid that information. He died today of Coronavirus.

Pls DO NOT LIE when you go to hospitals. That lie can get people killed.

Doctors were exposed.
Nurses were exposed.
Cleaners were exposed.
Many innocent health workers were exposed to the man.

Safe precautions were not taken because nobody knew early enough that this was potential Coronavirus.

When you go to hospital, the truth you say is not just for your own good- it is for the safety of those health workers taking care of you.

Health workers have loved ones too.
If your lies gets a nurse killed, who will raise her children?

Also, doctors and nurses can only treat you based on the information you give them. If you hide any vital information, it does NOT help you in any way.

You will make doctors treat ringworm when your problem is eczema.

This happened at the Accident and Emergency Unit of LUTH in Lagos. And this patient was put in the same space as many other patients.

Just imagine the same nurse or doctor that attended to him attended to other people there.

The virus may have been transferred.
This is evil

There should be a law in Nigeria about this thing. If you lie to a health worker- or you hide vital information that puts their life at risk- you should be tried in court and jailed.

It is evil to the health worker.
It is evil to other patients who that health worker will see.

That health worker you kill has a child. She has a husband. He has parents. It is evil, it is criminal and it is totally reprehensible.

If you kill a health worker today, who will take care of the next patient tomorrow?

Story is according to the Twitter handle @ourfavonlinedoc

Attached below is a picture of his corpse being taken away by NCDC.

Lalasticlala pls give this a wider view for more enlightenments.

Update: @Lalasticlala, Dominique & Sissy3 Don't you think the Accident & Emergency unit in LUTH is supposed to be cordoned off and disinfected? I just left LUTH a while ago and discovered that the A/E premises is business as usual.

Main reason why NCDC should allow general hospital to conduct test on patients NCDC cannot handle this pandemic alone..

4 Drs have already been quarantined because of this man. In a country where Drs are over worked, underpaid and barely appreciated. 4new Drs will have to take over their shift meaning longer hours and shorter time to rest. I've not even heard anything about nurses, patients and other cadre of health workers who would have been exposed to him. The ripple effect of this family's stupidity is best imagined.

NCDC can't because of all the general hospitals in lagos, only gbadada has a functional ventilator...isn't that shameful? In a critical situation, the patient could die before being referred to a tertiary health institution.

The heart of man is desperately wicked undecided

What of the other patients, probably with weaker immune system because of their illnesses?

The relatives who brought him helped him to conceal the vital information that exposed others to covid-19 and they really should be held responsible as their irresponsibility has caused a lot of harm!

Hospitals (especially A and E unit) at this time should treat everyone as a suspected covid-19 patient by wearing PPE abeg

I think every patient now should be diagnosed at the gate of the hospitals.

Hospitals have to be sure what they are being into the main wards just for safety of everyone.

It's rude but it's a fruitful approach at times like this.

No testing kit to check them from the gate.

Seriously don't lie to health workers.

But why did he have to "escape" an isolation center?

We have to answer that. And the doctors at LUTH, aren't they supposed to be on protective gears while on duty?

The Twitter handle is even popular. The doctor must be saying the truth... The whole family, all the health workers that attended to him and all the patients linked with the health workers at the ward, should be put under isolation.. wickedness on the part of the corpse

Nawa for Africa.

So the doctors and nurses could not wear simple Nose mask and Hand gloves ?

Before touching the man ? For this Corona period ?

Thats unserious.

Anyone serving the public this period deserves to wear nose mask and hand gloves, drivers, food vendors, bankers, police, talkless of health care givers attending to myriads of cases.

The unprotected exposed health care workers and Drs deserved this virus since they cared less of themselves and their families .. Upon what is Happening and this perilous time, they had mind not to wear the required protective gears......

Ingnorant and stupid people claiming health workers...

I read the eyewitness account of a nairalander who 'saw' the man and his family at the hospital. Apparently, he returned to naija recently but his relatives lied that he's been around since November, 2019. They lied about his travel history, why?

Some people are bent on spreading the virus. The only reason they returned home is to pass the virus to as many people as possible, I'm not surprised by the evil man's action

It is more dangerous to expose sick people to risk of getting infected as the virus is airborne, this is something you should think well before posting your opinion
