R&B artist Ne-Yo denies gay rumours Hassan Mirza GAY.COM Friday 4 May, 2007 R&B artist Ne-Yo (real name Shaffer Smith), who has written hits for Rihanna, Beyonce, and Mario Vasquez (former American Idol currently embroiled in a gay sexual harassment lawsuit), has denied gay rumours. In August, it was rumoured that the 24-year old artist was going to come out of the closet in Essence magazine. When questioned by New York’s Albany Times Union he responded, "Anybody who knows me, knows I'm not gay.” “I'm blessed to have very, very, very real people in my corner. Some managers will not tell the artist certain things because they don't want to stress them out,” he continued “ My managers are like, 'Yo, it's a dirty game.' I respect them for that.” “I look at that as I've officially made it. If my name is in your mouth, that means I'm on your mind. I take it all in stride." Ne-Yo's debut album, In My Own Words, was released in early 2006 through Def Jam Records. He has said that he has written songs for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Corbin Bleu and Enrique Iglesias for their upcoming albums. |

proof!!! Not that I'd be surprised, in his videos they depict women in a very disrespecting manner. It's a wonder that even after the Beijing conference one still sees women do such. |
