Simple truth is, without Lockdown, the number could have exploded out of hand. Like in US, where they don't have strict Lockdown, see their number is out of control. It is better towing path of caution.

D lockdown wasnt supposed to cure ppl of d disease, it was supposed to help ppl already exposed tons virus to self isolate and to reduce spreading to others while contact tracing is ongoing. Remember the collateral effects of the lockdown; armed robberies, suicides, hunger, etc. Extrapolate 2 more weeks and reassess the possible effects of such an extension. Maybe add cannibalism to your model.
