But seriously only God knows what we want in this country ,Pass president if they have borrow money or use our money for at least road construction or railway construction it would have being better
To my own understanding if this construction of railway is done price will fall, a time will still come where oil ,petrol will be transported through rail.you know what it means.it starts from somewhere.
Let try to appreciate.

I don't recall anyone asking me that question.

Which ones? If we had such companies, then what stops them was poor leadership and nothing else.

Quoting Oyatz:

For instance,

1) In Electricity sector: NEPA

In Print Media: Daily Times, New Nigerian.
Several States had their own Newspapers e.g Sketch Newspapers owned by the S/West States.

2) In Electronic Media: NTA.

ALL States also set up their own Television e.g LTV (Lagos), ASBS (Anambra), OSBC (Osun)

3) Telecommunication- NITEL

4) Iron & Steel: Aluminum Smelting Company of Nigeria (ASCL), Ikot Ekpene.

Delta Steel Company, Aladja, Delta State.
Ajaokuta Steel Complex, Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

National Coal Corporation

Oluwa Glass Company, Ondo State.

5) Maritime: Nigeria National Shipping Line (NNSL).

Over Five seaports.

6) Aviation: Nigeria Airways

So many Airports

7) Defense and Security: Defense Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON)

So many Federal Universities and Polytechnics.

Over 100 Unity Schools.

9) Textiles: Odua Textiles, Ado-Ekiti

Kaduna Textiles, Kaduna States

10) Automobile:

Anambra Motor Company (Anamco), Enugu.
Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria (PAN), Kaduna.

Volkswagen of Nigeria, Ijanikin, Lagos.

Steyr Moyors, Kano.

Leyland Automobile Ltd, Ibadan.

If you think this was as a result of bad leadership, tell us the new saints that have suddenly been put in our public space that would serve better today.

Many of the commentators on Nairaland are between 20-30 years and they don't know much about what happened in Nigeria before 2015.

Nigeria had over 400 companies owned and operated by the Federal Government, 98% of which were ran aground with Billions of Naira in debt leading to the decision of Government to privatize most of them.

For instance, the Nigerian Airways was so badly managed that no investors was willing to buy it that it had to be liquidated by Obasanjo in 2003.

By 1999, Nigeria Airways had 2000 workers and two aeroplanes, translating to 1000 workers per one aeroplane!

The question is; even if they were not yet born, why are they so poor at doing research?

A country that doesn't conduct research CAN NEVER develop.

Gosh! Did you read my post before coming up with this list?

I suggested: joint ventures in which the government would leave the day to day running of the enterprises to the private sector partners!
Now, in which of all this companies you listed did that happen? There is no way government can run any company successfully in Nigeria. That's a failure of leadership and not a failure of the average Nigerian. If a leader can not be accountable, what do you expect the followers to do?
