HBO is streaming nearly 500 hours of original shows and licensed movies for free, starting today. Anyone can watch these shows and movies ad-free on HBO’s website or the HBO Now and HBO GO apps (including streaming stick apps), no subscription required.

HBO is promoting its free content with the hashtag #StayHomeBoxOffice. As you’re probably well aware, this is a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it may also be an attempt to ramp up excitement for the HBO Max streaming service, which launches for $15 a month in May. HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s version of Disney+ and will include most of the companies properties—HBO originals, Warner Bros movies, licensed content from Studio Ghibli, etc.
