The IMF observation is base on the global fall in oil prices. We all know that Nigeria depend solely on oil as her main source of revenue generation. Until Nigeria diversify her economy, things like recession can not stop affecting us frequently. The aftermath of the pandemic will affect all the countries of the world but IMF is pointing to Nigeria because of her single source of income.

That is not what this thread is about, right?

Well, it is hinged on it... Why is Nigeria's case so peculiar in the midst of other renown African nations??!...

We have never been far from recession under this administration... Using Covid-19 as a sole cause will merely smack of naivety. It will only worsen a state we were generally headed.

There are Major happenings all over the world Today.

Before they come out to do certain things physically there are heavy high Spiritual consultations that are done. Infact things are Concluded Spirtually before they carry it out physically..

If you have been alert for some time now you will notice that certain Nations, Organizations and people have been concerned about Nigeria.

Few days Zakari of CNN mentioned that Nigeria should be carried along in this Covid stuff and all that

Melinda gates mentioned Nigeria again

Now this again!

I perceive they have a target but due to High powered Prayers going on in Nigeria, they are finding it difficult to subdue Spiritually.

Seun, I know you're worried about the impact of coronavirus on your business, Nairaland, but you don't even realise how fast this forum is loosing credibility, (if it hasn't lost all) already.

Tribal bigots (some with demeaning usernames) have since taken over your forum, seizing every opportunity to bring other tribes down. Yet you and your mods seems to have turned a blind eye to it, perhaps because you think only about getting traffic to your forum at all cost.

Your forum have successfully contributed in portraying Nigeria in bad light to foreigners who visits this site. We are more divided by your indifference to the daily tribal wars on Nairaland.

You can still bring back sanity to this forum if you have the will to do it. Take drastic measures if you have to.

*Permanently ban every moniker that portray tribalistic abuse
*Implement a one time phone number activation/authentication for new members who register
*Permanently ban any user that attacks other tribes
*Permanently ban users who post pornographic/betting contents
*Take other necessary steps needed to sanitize this forum.

While I do agree with ur submissions, u do realise these same tribal bigots are on Twitter and Facebook disgracing themselves and perhaps not the country cos those little bunch can't speak for a whole nation of 180million people.

I would like seun to do smtn about it bt I'm not sure he can stop people from speaking their minds. He cud maybe put up ads or promotion or re education against bigotry of smtn or include them for temporary ban. Bt what bigots need most is change of mentality and matbe healing, they still contribute in other ways on the forum and in the nation.

With the way these World Organizations are Intrested in Nigeria these days.... I Suspect something..

There is a Target!

I Suspect all these concerns are Connected to a Vaccine!

I Believe that the Belief is that once Nigeria is gotten , any other African nation will fall in..

Nigeria is Respected and Feared not because of our Economy or leaders!

Nigeria is Feared because Nigeria is a Spiritual Heavy Weight!

Only very few will understand these things!
I understand...but these world powers will fail. This I know.

This is one of the best time in th history of Nigeria.

A leading statesman in Nigeria and a Minister of Finance in the Second Republic, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji hinted that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) requested and got a loan from Nigeria in 1974.

Law of demand and supply. After Covid19, there will be too many products and few buyers. Our major product is oil and many industries that uses it may not start full production.

I believe reverse is the case, those who have been out of work especially in production will be eager to get back to work and start making money, but due to previous #stayAtHome experience people have not been making money, hence product will be available but money to buy will be scarce.

Will good policies on ground toward poeple, the impacts will be minimal or absolve easily

IMF people are wasting their time thinking they will scare Nigerian politicians.
After spending $25,000 buying SUVs for themselves, next thing they will do is buy private jets for one another. lipsrsealed

May Corona Virus knock on the doors of Greedy Nigerian politicians and spare the Poor.

Lol...You obviously closed your eyes to
1. Advanced economies dipping at -6%
2. Nigeria will bounce back at 2.4% in 2020

You just want to wail

1. Nigeria is NOT an advanced economy
2. Every oil economy that prepared since 2015 was not hit hard this time, Buhari failed to prepare.
3. Buhari's incompetence caused this lockdown, we could have avoided it after the Italian index case.
4. With the exception of African economies reliant on tourism, we've weathered the storm well.

You r looking @ it from internal money flow perspective. The bulk of money those people make originates from oil proceed coming in to the country and repatriated fund from abroad. Both major sources will take a serious hit.
The best is to keep diversifying, agriculture to me, is our best bet.

Is it the Coronavirus that will cause the recession or our government’s approach to fighting the virus, as adviced by experts in the same category as the ones predicting a bleak future for us?
Both. Just look at how they politicize the cash transfer by using a list compiled with election voting demographics in view. Incompetence is our govt middle name.
