Workers Of Liquidated Nigeria Airways Ltd Open Letter To Muhammadu Buhari, by itubaba001: 11:31pm On Apr 14, 2020
-WORKERS OF LIQUIDATED NIGERIA AIRWAYS LTD
OPEN LETTER TO MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA BY THE EX-WORKERS OF LIQUIDATED NIGERIA AIRWAYS LIMITED REGARDING THE STILL PENDING 22 BILLION NAIRA RELEASED SINCE MAY 2019 AS PART OF THEIR SEVERANCE PAYMENT.

Your Excellency,

We watched your broadcast extending the COVD-19 lockdown period by two weeks and know from it that you are in good health. We thank the Almighty for that. But we cannot say same for many among us ex-workers of liquidated Nigeria Airways.

The reason we cannot say same for many among us is clear. Many among us are lying critically ill. Many among us are critically hungry. And these situations are worsened by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Your Excellency, we are aware that you expressly gave a standing instruction to all the relevant bodies to ensure no salaries, pensions, or any such payments are delayed during this trying period.

Your also announced and made provisions for financial palliatives to be made available to as many as need it. And we saw and read in the news the distribution of such palliative items.

So it is with immeasurable dismay that we write to inform you that the over 22 billion naira which you released to be paid to us since May 2019 is yet to be paid to us! Since then, some among us have died!

Now we wonder: if money released since last year is yet to be paid to us now in April, when can we ever expect the one approved to be paid to us in the 2020 budget?

Your Excellency, it may interest you to know that since last year, our own union officials have been feeding us with totally unreliable information. Now we have become disillusioned and decided this must come to your notice.

We chose this as the only medium open to us to try and bring this issue to your notice since our union members kept dissuading us from holding peaceful protests till the COVID-19 lockdown took effect.

Our only hope and prayer is that whoever gets this open letter would be kind enough to share it with others who would also kindly share it with yet others till someone brings it to your notice.
Your Excellency, we are not indicting or accusing any individual or bodies. We only appeal that you please come to our aid and order those charged with the responsibility to pay the money to us immediately as we are on the verge of starvation!

We thank you most sincerely.

Signed:
Hungry ex-workers of defunct Nigeria Airways.
