Increased testing,
Don't forget we have 9000+ contact of index cases being observed, whose symptoms had hatched and are testing position ,now.

Let us not forget what the Director of NCDC said ,2days days ago, that the aim of the lockdown is not to get the disease away ,but to contain it by getting the institution ready and running efficiently within the 10days period.

That the virus is expected to get to all the states.
Not that the the lockdown won't be opened up but with heavy policies that will still affirm the social distances

I believe that a similitude of this lockdown will be our new normal.
Even the government are loosing a lot within this lockdown. If this continues they might to be able to sustain their own institutions.
We will go back to our works, but status and model we change.
Policies like this should be expected.
1.Many will be encouraged to work at home for a while.
2.Schools will still be grounded,or one grade for each day of the week.
Markets could be opened but may be allowed to run in different day of the week ,where going out with hand gloves and face mask will be compulsory.
3.churches and mosque may be allowed to run the way they are running for few more weeks.
4.Banks while will only allow maximum of people in their hall.

Etc

It is not a curse and it is not a wish but it is reasonable to expect sharp increases in both Oyo and Edo states in the coming days.

The reason is due to the populist disposition of the governments of the two states. In the case of Oyo, this is not a surprise since this has been the disposition of the government from its inception in 2019.

However, the case of Edo state government is due to the impending gubernatorial election coming up later in the year.

The two governors should know that if they fail to take decisive steps and do the needful by placing restrictions on movements in their respective states, their populist disposition will seriously backfire and nobody - including the governors - will be better for it.

A word is enough for the Wise.

That man in Oyo State is a mistake, he doesn't understand anything about governance and he doesn't listen. It's really pathetic! He even claimed that the state has capacity to test 2000 residents daily. Whereas, the guy is still at the stage of "we would do this, we would do that". Ordinary face masks, he couldn't deliver after claiming to have spent 1 billion naira without procuring a single ventilator

Meanwhile....here is some.very simple logic that someone with your capacity can understand.

If cables are being laid for the 5G networks - it means the 5G network are not yet active - It means the 5G networks are not responsible for the sicknesses and deaths.

Do you follow?

Openbusiness:

I didn't say 5G is causing COVID-19, I said I will rather trust pastor Chris than trust this lying government. What did Pastor Chris say that I trust? He said they are currently laying 5G cables in Lagos and Abuja. The government said they have not granted 5G license to anyone. Then MTN said they have already successfully tested it in certain places in Nigeria. How could they have tested it without putting the infrastructure in place? So obviously the government is the one lying here, not Pastor Chris. The argument is not that 5G causes Coronavirus. The argument is that the 5G networks are killing people with their radioactivity. Is that a lie or is it true, has anyone scientifically proven either case to be true or false to lay the matter to rest? No! It's a new tech and it's too soon to determine the long term effects and how it affects different demographics of people because we are not the same, and what doesn't affect a Korean might affect a Nigerian and what doesn't affect a Nigerian might affect and Indian. Science is not always black and white, sometimes there are grey areas and the 5G network is a work in progress.

At this rate, I believe Nigeria is about to peak. By next weekend, I expect a sharp drop in number of newly infected persons.

Considering the level of illiteracy out there, because many people still don't believe that this COVID-19 is real. God has truly been our saving grace.

There is no statistics to show Nigeria is about to peak. Your rate of infection per test is increasing and your average new cases per day is almost double previous week.

Kano seems to be warming up to outdo everyone and the fact that about 6 of the Kano Covid-19 Task Force members including the Co-Chairman have been infected is not good news at all.
Let us not kid ourselves that the situation can be wished away. We need to more than quadruple our efforts. We have just tested less than 8,000 people in a population of 200 million compared to Ghana that has tested over 50,000 people.

Panic buying happens with money. Nigerians are hungry and afraid of dying before contracting Covid-19 itself.

Fair logical point.
But here's what, the countries you have mentioned allowed the pandemic run off before trying to catch up & find solutions.
The only thing nigeria has been trying to do is to prevent such a run off because the healthcare system is in no position to cope with a full blown pandemic.
This was the reason for the relatively early lockdown & subsequent extension. It was the same with the Ebola outbreak. Prevention. The Ebola numbers are nothing like they were for other countries hit. Ebola was just as deadly in nigeria, but prevention was the game that was played!

cybertron88:
I have my reservations about how deadly thus virus is in Nigeria. Those saying we don't have much cases because we aren't doing enough testing, does testing also affect the number of deaths recorded. By now ppl should be dropping dead if actually it is the same virus as it was in Italy and US. Someone said we should wait for 2 weeks and see d result of our negligence. It's about 3wks now and those that have died are mostly those who brought it from abroad.
My point is we have to open up our economy and get back to work practicing safe hygiene and wearing face mask. We can't be copying countries that have stimulus package in place to rebound thier economy when all this is over. If we continue shutting down our economy for a virus that has a death rate far less than malaria, the post effect will be far more reaching on us than the virus itself.

in fact u've captured the whole scenario here...in my area,no more sanitizing,no face mask,no washing of hand and above all we think 2weeks lockdown will make the infection to disappear.

This shows how much people lack understanding. Pls ask questions if you can't grasp easily, no offence. I watched Pst Chris's video on Covid-19 and 5G. He never said 5G causes or makes people susceptible to covid-19. He said 5G is a part of a grand plan to carry out surveillance on people in the near future. This current pandemic is a bio weapon tested on world population to see how efficient a global lockdown would be. I've been doing research on this subject for years. Every global pandemic has been a bioweapon. Stop tagging everything conspiracy.

Why are they not showing us active cases in hospital fighting for their lifes and doctors running up and down to save their life, especially in Lagos where we have more cases. That alone we make people to stay at home without enforcement. Rather they continue giving us figure at night.

It is a cumulative record in line with global practice for the theoretical reason that an infected person will develop immunity which in itself has certain values.
