I will advice you go for your MSC in Canada. With your 8million naira, you might not be able to even get CPL in South Africa, training is more expensive now due to the Exchange rate. And also, after you complete your training and get your CPL,to get Job is another hustle now. Most airlines now, when they employ you, they will tell you to go for a self sponsored type rating on the aircraft they want you to be flying for them, which is another money for you to find and sometimes it doesn't even guarantee you that they will still give you the Job! There are many guys out there with type ratings sef without a Job!

In 2017, Arik instructed me to go for my self type rating on CRJ aircraft and It costs me close to 9million to get it done, it was after some months that they even employed me. I am not discouraging you from pursuing your dream, fingers are not the same but you'll really need God to help you to achieve your dream to becoming an airline pilot.

I wish you good luck.
9 million for type rating? Damn.

Was it for airbus?

First learn a skill(plumbing , welding, barbing, hair dressing ) or any other high demand skills.. then go for your masters in Canada , Australia or Germany.. no matter how bad it is you can get your masters and get some income through your skills , this income can pile up and you putting for your PhD or other coarse and continue working and learning , I can tell you for a fact you would be better off than bumping into business in Nigeria without previous experience

Op, please follow this advice for your own good and children.

First and foremost being a pilot is not an easy job,you might spend up to 50-80m naira before a good airline can employ you after many years of studies and practicing.

8m is a very big money in this part of the world. My advise to you is to find a lucrative business and venture into. You can start a standard barbing saloon with 3m and open a fixed deposit account and pay in the remaining 5m for 12months.

After the first 12months,if you make a lot of profit you can open another branch, but if none you still have your money with much interest.
this advice shows clearly you are not a wise business man.
No insult. One thing about saloon, if you don't know how to barb, forget it, the business will ruin. Talking from experience.
8m is huge, there are some business out there you can start out there that brings high profits weekly, transportation is one out of many.

In Nigeria, 8 Million naira is big money - and yes, spending that for your education in Nigeria feels like it's too much if you're considering the government owned schools. But if you want to study abroad (or in some private schools in Nigeria) that money is almost nothing. it might barely go through for tuition fees in the US and UK. Now if you want to spend all that money for your studies, then a good question to ask is where am I going to get jobs? How much will I get paid. Because it doesn't make sense to spend 8m on MSc alone and at the end of the day, you only get jobs of 150k jobs per month - that doesn't feel like good investment.

You want to consider business? That's another risky aspect. You'll need to consider the cost of doing business and the risks involved.
A pilot program? Well, that has its own risks.

The take home here is simple. Follow what you're interested in. But make sure your plans are such that will be sustainable in the long term. Remember, you are talking about your career here.

From the way you sounded, I know say na money you dey chase, you are looking at how you can double that money bro.
Let me be frank with you, Masters will not give you the expected return on the investment, not at the time intervals you are looking at.
For you to become a full captain you must log in over 4000 hours of flight time, meaning after about 2-3yrs pilot training, you will still require another 2-5yrs to get the required flight time, that is if you get job immediately.
But with ₦8million in your kitty bro,you are on top of your game, just look for an e-commerce you can do from your home with ₦4m, Investment ₦3m and live on ₦1m while you grow your business.

Please tell me what you have achieved with your first degree? I’m sure if you’ve achieved anything significant you would’ve gone for the MSc without asking anybody’s opinion.

Before going into pilot school, ask yourself these questions m;

Is your money enough to complete it ?
Will you find a pilot job without any connections?
Are you really interested in this career ?

What course did u study?
What are you inclined towards.
Being a pilot is good, I don't know how much it costs and the different stages b4 u can be certified to man a plane.
I would have advised u go into business but it has to be a dream and passion within u to run a business and that is why I asked the second question above
If u have more money than the 8m, u can go for pilot cos they are well paid but find out from pilot to guide u of the terrain in the industry. There is a pilot school in kwaara state I think. U may go for additional course overseas.
U can always do a business and do Msc.
I did MBA (Saturday only and it's a 2 year program all things being equal).
May be u invest like 6.5M in secured investment while u use 1M to start a business after much enquires.
Once ur business picks, u can go for ur MBA.
U can learn a skill ( not classroom/ office skill).
Sir, can you expatiate the bolded for me?

Think of a novel business or existing businesses with great potential in your area, start it up and thank me later. The Msc and the pilot whatever can come afterwards.

at the end of this thread, you'll end up more confused than you were courtesy of nairalanders and their know it all attitude. don't be surprised that some of them that will advise you don't even have upto 100k in their account or ever ran a successful business. just follow your heart and do what you believe would be best for you

So because someone doesn't have money or never ran a successful business before means that they can't render a good advice? Good advice is what the op needs not years of entrepreneurship or how much you or anybody have in their account

I don't know your family background but if it's not that of an okay one and you would like to put everything (you, your future, family, and unborn kids) into consideration, I would advice that you go for your MSc in a country that has a good working system with a stay back option for international students. But if you're from a well to do family you can venture into Real Estates and if possible run your masters on the side here in Nigeria (if possibly the 8m carries you that far, which I'm sure it would. 8m is a lot of money in this present Nigeria

Insult ke!we are here to learn. When I said saloon,I'm not referring to those petty saloon,I'm talking about standard unisex saloon that can fetch you 20-50 daily.

With 3m you can establish one in a place like Lekki,Ikeja or Festac if you are in Lagos. And you have to install CCTV in the shop to avoid unseriousness from your workers.
