Fashola was actually vocal and active during the early years of Buhari's government. The whole noise about Fashola been a super hero in governance seems to have died out. What happened? Is it his failures in the power sector that has humbled him? That is the most shameful thing that can happen to you when everyone is saying that you are the best man for a job only for you to mess up the whole thing. Moral of the lesson: If you are a lawyer, face the Judiciary Law and Technology has nothing in common All Buhari's appointees are square pegs in round holes. A doctor is a minister for employment. We never heard of him giving palliatives to his surulere constituency. Truth is most Southern employees in Buharis cabinet are not genuinely happy. Hausa Fulani has overran Buharis government and most of the appointees are at their Mercy. See how they boxed the VP to a corner and put him in some embarrassing situations where he had to start defending himself sometimes in public. So I'm not surprised Fashola is silent. IlovePMB:Fashola being a lawyer had nothing to do with the failure in the ministry of power. Gosh! when would Nigerians wake up from this simpleminded logic? The power issue we have in Nigeria isn't a technical issue needing professors of engineering, it's rather an administrative and political issue requiring an astute administrator and negotiator with very strong political will and political backing. Place Albert Einstein as the minister for power in Nigeria, he would achieve absolutely nothing if he doesn't have administrative skills, if he isn't given the right political backing from oga ontop, and if he isn't given money (lots of it). The explosion of the internet means that falsehood and manipulation have essentially no place to hide. Fact-checking is the new normal....Fashola's audio achievement have gone with the wind. Where are the evidence of his achievements as governor just five years after leaving office? Is Lagos not a shit-hole if you discount places like Lekki-Ajah, VI and possibly Festac where the quanta of development are majorly driven by the citizens what remains of Lagos? Fashola re-invented the wheel yet the traffic situation in Lagos is probably the worst in the world. Where are the roads? So you’re saying internet does not exist pre-2015 and all he did during his tenure as Lagos governor was all propaganda? Mention one governor in your region that had a better record than Fashola based on their performance while in office. Mention just one! Fashola is the poster boy for ACN and eventually that of APC towards the national election. Everyone was like see what Fashola did in Lagos, do you think everyone can be insane at the same time? Check his ministerial screening at the senate in 2015, you’ll see how those senators both APC & PDP are pouring encomium on him and you’ll see the depth of respect they all had for him. The best improvement witnessed in the power ministry happened when the ministry was superintended by Prof. Barth Nnaji,a world-renowned professor of Mechanical Engineering. As an engineer, I don't expect you to understand. It is probably only in Nigeria where a garrulous lawyer gets appointed to oversee power. We saw it with Bola Ige and as if no lessons were learned, Fashola was also given the nod. Both men have proved unmitigated failures. Let's keep appointing misfits to sensitive positions and continue expecting them to deliver different outcomes. maestroferddi: Rubbish. What do you mean by if Peter Obi had half the resources Fashola had? How much is the population of Anambra? How much strain is on the resources of Anambra? Why can’t Peter Obi transform Anambra to the best state after Lagos since you said he is an elderado. If Buhari was not elected in 2015, people would have been shouting Buhari would have transformed Nigeria to America if he ruled. But reality is always different from fantasies. We have oil producing states that can’t show anything for the enormous allocation they are getting from the FG. Money is not the same as real development. If Tinubu/Fashola were not that spectacular Lagos would have been just like Rivers and nothing more. One thing about you guys is that you always tend to downplay achievement of others using IF. Using your analogy we can also say if Nigeria is as rich as USA, Buhari would have turned everywhere to Dubai. Or if oil was sold for >$100, Buhari would have turned Nigeria to Paris. 2 Likes |
