[s]Good comment I must admit.
However there is no such thing as the United South. I do not believe the South East in particular is capable of forming alliances: no pun intended. Politics is about alliances. It is about compromises. It is about give and take. It is about negotiations. The South East on the other hand has always played activism and aluta-ism mistaking this to be politics. With respect to electoral influence, the South East is one of the weakest in the country. They do not have the electorate to secure a win at the national polls. And it is unfortunate that the South East keeps having a sense of entitlement towards the South West, like the latter is supposed to support them against the North.
The North is not the enemy. The North has never been the enemy. The enemy of the country is in each region and they are benefiting maximally while many of us are out here bickering. Many people on this thread are jobless and poor and will remain so, and even hand over the same terrible heritage to their own offspring if they live long enough to sire children. Yet, they are busy defending a sociopolitical structure that continues to consolidate their misery as humans.
There is no such thing as the United South, there probably never will be. I believe the Igbos in particular raised their children to hate all other humans, and even to feel superior towards them. Igbo leadership in the past was never a good testimony for Nigeria. In fact at a point the North wanted to secede and it was Igbo leadership that frustrated that from happening. The South West are a distinct group of people. Hate them or like them, they know how to fix their own political problems. The South East should go and have a serious talk with themselves instead of always crying and claiming to be the victim of all things in the country. No amount of crying will secure the presidency for the South East. You have to play the politics or you keep crying.[/s].. And I personally believe that an Igbo Presidency will most likely demonstrate a far greater degree of nepotism and Igbo supremacy in Nigeria. [s]Every organization, corporation and association, with Igbos at the head in the country always manage to ease out other ethnic groups, replacing them with Igbos. So, if Igbos are not willing or able to discuss the matter on ground constructively, then they should keep quiet because they are not better than the Northerners when it comes to nepotism and tribalism. Love him or hate him, Obasanjo is the only president in recent times that made appointments across board. And he is a Yoruba man.[/s]

If you are yet to see the worst unprecedented degree of Nepotism in the history of Nigeria in this Buhari govt, then you are really sick in the head and needs urgent psychiatric attention!!

That's right. We are all in it together. Every section of the country is suffering from the consequences of years of misrule by our past leaders especially from the military regime to date. The wealth of the nation is being shared among few (less than 10%) , leaving large percentage of the population to scamper for the left over. Corruption is our greatest enemy and not the tribal or religion differences. If we are fortunate to get a leader that gets it right, nobody will remember our ethnic and religion differences again. Take football as an example, when Nigeria is playing well and wining ,everyone is happy and we give them the support .So likewise it is, when it turns the other way. We don't need a politician as leader. What we need is a God fearing servant, selfless, sound, visionary and result oriented. He may be as blunt as Trump, we don't care. Whatever part of the country he comes from does not matter as long he has the feelings of the masses in his heart and sees Nigeria as a project that he must deliver. Let's learn to forgive one another and and move on. We need to unite to fight the common enemy called corruption and bad leadership the same way we are uniting to fight Corona Virus now.

Well said brother

Correct talk. As a matter of urgency some words in the English language need to be replaced with "Igbo".

Words such as hypocrite, revisionist, delusional, deceptive, dishonest, clannish, unfair, betrayer, backstabber, bigots, discriminatory etc.

Their parents deliberately twist the annals of history for them in their dedication to continue the production line of indoctrinated haters of others.

When you then show them documented korokoro history, showing they have done far worse than they accuse others of doing, they begin lying and playing victim.

How on earth, given the real and documented history of Nigeria, can Yorubas qualify to be called betrayers or backstabbers more than Igbos?

Oloriburuku God sake igbo always seeing Yoruba giant tormenting your bigoted father n mother in your dream. If the Yoruba got nothing is this dispensation how is that your pathetic father's problem. As any Yoruba cried to your father for salvation?! It is Amadioha that will destroy your entire household n unborn for mentioning Yoruba in your comment.

destinie2019:

The Yoruba danced in the sun and sweated, used their media outlets to tackle Jonathan, got to the table and got next to nothing in this dispensation.
And forgot their activism.
Chaiiii.... Soyinka, Tinubu, Omojuwa, are these people still alive?

At the end of the day every Nigerian is a tribal bigot. Just look at your epistle it is only attacking one tribe "igbos" it might be subconscious but your brain is already wired to blame and see fault in the igbos. So everything you wrote here applies to you. Peace.

A quick one here! i cant remember how we got ourself (collectively) here but i am sure we all are guilty in one way or another as a result of our upbringing.
i av bn around on nairaland for a longwhile but hardly take courage to muster words but i found it necessary especially as i have ample time to reflect and put forth my opinion on this issue.
my submission is neither a jibe nor a jab on any ethnic nationality. we are better together if only we can respect our differences and appreciate our spaces. u seem swift to protect urself and urs. alot of name callings and swipes have been taken against yorubas earlier on this thread but no non-yoruba came to their defense. it shows an average nigerian is potentially or practically a bigot.
i appreciate ur problem-spotting acumen but unfortunately you didnt profer a wayout of our problem. meanwhile have we even forgotten that we are arguing and insulting ourselves over an appointment that doesnt seem to benefit anyone except the appointees and their families(only) therefore let me offer my candid and possible solution: pls let anyone contribute in peace without prejudment. i am a nigerian except proven otherwise i av friend and associates across boundaries and i can are assure you great minds dont generalise to say the least condemn anybody as a result of religious or ethnic affinities. #stay safe bro!

For what it ought to be..this forum has and still serving its purpose i.e exchange of idea save for some nincompoop. thanks for your compliment. A united south is possible though difficult. nigeria had a united south in 2011 general election that returned Jonathan as president and similarly in 1993 election that was widely acclaimed to have been won by MKO. these are silver linings in a dark cloudy sky.
Alas! we have been divided along religious and ethnic line since then and our situation now seem irredeemable
honestly, we need not pitch tents against ourselves but if that is the only way of wrestling power from disaster personified tyrants parading themselves as government i think it is welcomed.
let me rest here as too many words can lead to sin Prov.10:19-21. stay safe bro!

A country can move forward, when it follows in totality the simple document that binds them together, constitution and rule of law. We complian that our constitution is skewed but the actions or inaction of this government totally render the constitution useless. So where will progress come from? Developed world move forward because the constitution is sacrosanct.

99% of the southerns on this thread are cowards...

The north cheats you, & rather than address the issue, you throw brickbrats amongst yourselves.

Only two people were courageous enough to point out that not only are the appointments against the principles of the Federal Character, the secretary is from an association with known sympathy for violence of some of its rouge members.

Also, the chairman & secretary are Muslims...

Those providing a less than adequate justification that the chairperson is Yoruba from kwara are even worse hypocrites. Will the north accept a chairman of a FG agency (that is not region specific) having a chairman from SS & secretary from SE? Chairman from SW & secretary from SS?

Well, hopefully, the NAss would not let this fly & put to shame those who justify this travesty...

Stop being silly.
The only region who have been vocal and have the history of being involved in seperation is the Old Eastern Nigeria of which the SE is a main component.
Of course you know this. Wonder what this silliness is for?

No one is talking about history here. Secession favoured SE then in the 60s/70s when the SS was part of your plan. Today you've managed to ostracize yourselves by creating enemies with every other tribe because of your arrogance and duplicity..

Besides most of your businesses are in the West because you'abandoned your arid lands for greener pastures.
Why do you think it's only broke Igbos pushing for division?
You don't know the half. Let Kanu keep gasing you while enriching himself.
