Type 2 Diabetes: Losing weight early increases the chances of not having to take medications
Maintaining the correct weight can prevent many pathologies. A recent study confirmed its importance in better controlling type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is strongly linked to lifestyle incorrect. Unlike type 1, in which insulin must always be administered to achieve disease control, this is not essential in the case of type 2 diabetes. Several studies show that, through a conspicuous weight loss, one could get to the remission of the disease, i.e. the maintenance of blood sugar levels in a range of correct values, without the need to take drugs. Existing studies
In the studies done so far, however, patients underwent very intensive interventions to lose weight, both in terms of physical activity and that of calorie restriction. The groups of people analyzed may therefore not represent the whole population: not all of them, In daily life, manage to follow a strict diet or play sports intensively. In general, difficulties are also encountered in doing an hour of gym or a half-hour jog even every day, let alone intense physical activity. Furthermore, existing studies have considered both people with a recent diagnosis and those who have had diabetes for a few years, without making any differentiation: it is not clear whether a weight loss that occurs early, immediately after diagnosis, can favor a long-lasting remission of the disease.
