President Muhammadu Buhari has urged international financial institutions to assist member states in cushioning the negative impact of the pandemic in the spirit of solidarity.

To all the inbreeding underachieving morons, PMB moves on.

President Buhari said the assistance includes extending concessional loans, technical support, lowering of tariff on medical equipment and consumables, sharing of expertise in case management, adopting open trade policies, as well as outright debt cancellation.

You may need to read the piece again.

Many people reads headlines only and jump into reactions. Buhari never asked for Loan cancellations, he only plead with financial bodies to give light loans and supports

Just like that you borrow funds you squander it among yourselves without using it for any significant thing that benefit nigerians and you want them to cancel the debt
Re: Buhari Begs IMF, World Bank To Cancel Nigeria’s Debts by TAYO124: 12:34am On May 05, 2020
Wrong timing international institutions are not stupid, it was originally a loan not called a grant / Aid. The lender nations are currently mostly dealing with the negative consequences of Covid outbreak meaning they need money too. They cannot cancel any irresponsible government like Buhari's debt.

This man is really an illiterate, both the speech writer and the man he wrote the speech for are not living in this world. This is social media material not to be taken seriously, do you know how many years OBJ spent negotiating writing off Nigerian debts behind close doors before it became public. How many people negotiate loan today the next day they are asking it be written off. Nonsense people you won’t appoint people to your government on merits but moslems north will do. Continue to embarrass your government and your self with none existence people. OBJ source the best intelligence people to his government while you are just licking the floor nepotistic animals

Buhari is very funny. So he can stoop so low to be begging for open trade! Did he remember open trade when he DECREED the closing of Nigerian border to trade with the West African neighbours even those who were no selling Rice to Nigeria?

Mohammed Buhari and his APC rogues are mad internationally.

I dont have a problem with IMF and World bank forgiving the Nation's huge debts but is the Nation extending a hand of forgiveness and help to Nigerian businesses as well: exporters, importers, small and micro enterprises eg that have and will continue to be disrupted by this new normal in the world, to help ensure that businesses and by extension the economy is stimulated, so that this begging for debts to be cancelled does not become a way of life moving forward.
Can they even truely account for how all the donations that we have been hearing have been or are being used.

If debt is cancelled, will they demand austerity measures?

I don't know if it's been Buhari that has been stealing. But massive stealing has been going on since he took power. All those billions of $$$, what happened to them?

You just quoted a list including the term "outright debt cancellation" but claim there is no request for loan cancellation.

What you can argue is that he didn't say Nigeria specifically needs debt cancellation - he was referring to a group of countries that need assistance.
