Governor Aminu Bello Masari has announced that Katsina state now has 75 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state.

Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari made this known to newsmen this Monday at government house, katsina.

He said out of the number, 6 have been discharged from the isolation centre at federal Medical centre, katsina.

The Governor explained that the new 37 confirmed cases received from NCDC, only one is from Daura while the others are from katsina City.

He revealed that even on this Sunday-yesterday, NCDC took 89 samples from Daura alone, adding that with samples from katsina, over one hundred results of samples are being awaited from NCDC in the state.

He announced that 14 health workers are among positive cases recorded, stressing that 10 are medical personnel from Federal Medical centre while the other four are from private clinics in katsina city.

On the lockdown of the Emirate palace in Daura, he said there was nothing wrong with the action except it was being done to check the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

The Governor warned that government would strengthen the lockdown in katsina and Daura as compliance was negligible.

He however assured that government would look into possibility of increasing spots to purchase food items and medicaments.

He also assured that government would continue to support Frontline workers with protective facilities to reduce risks of contracting the virus.

He used the occasion to asked NCDC to consider providing a testing center in katsina state.

Alhaji Aminu Masari commended some business concerns, lawmakers and a number of politicians that have been distributing parliatives to the most vulnerable in the lockdown local governments.

He however assured that government is planning to also distribute such parliatives to the vulnerables in the state.

Alhaji Aminu Masari explained that the state government is working to produce masks locally to be providing such to the citizens before enforcing the law on wearing of masks in the state.
