martineverest:We are all learners. But, you may need to learn faster. If you choose to blame China you have no reasons but sentiments. If you listed all those as possible enemies of China; you may need to to be told that it is not full proof but a conjecture. Yet, you forgot to tell us the enemies of the US and they are many and formidable. However, I wish you know that the poor, arrogant, and debtor, scarcely have genuine friends. This battle of wits started over ten years ago, and now China has unassailable advantages in being scientifically, economically, socially, and sovereign wealth wise ahead of America; followed by Germany and Japan, and when the chips are down they will prefer China to the bully (America). For you and me we can't say for sure who or what caused covid-19. The known facts are that national discipline, leadership quality, science, technology and economic comfort tells on how well it could be managed. China, Russia, Germany, and Japan with India have shown that the Anglo-American alliance is a moribund power. So, since the World Bank is, in the midst of this crisis, seeing China as an alternate power, common sense should tell you that the battle was won years ago. Like Sudan, Songhai, Ghana, Roman, and British empires, America now is at the 'hiss' and 'fuss' point. Just before ten years, with war or part of honour, America will be filing behind China and her chosen Allies. Let's wait and see it unfolding, this is not prophecy but a clear social historical calculation. Thanks. 1 Like |

Having less number of students means having more arms as in: jss3A, jss3B, jss3C etc...This also requires more teachers than before..my concern is how kids in play group and kg classes will cope if school re opens |

mediocre: Bwahahaha! So it is now China's fault that some countries are underdeveloped / developing ? In case you don't know, China is technically a developing country, too. Blame your incompetent leaders who for sixty plus years sold crude oil but couldn't use its proceeds to develop Nigeria! Blame black African leaders ( excluding the current Rwandan leader) for being too dumb that they haven't been able to harness the abundant natural resources they have to create prosperous countries. Yesterday on both CNN and Euronews, there were reports of a French citizen (a fishmonger)who had Coronavirus in December even though he had no known prior travel history to China. How did he contract the virus? So, you see, there are still a whole lot of information ordinary people like you and I do not have regarding the true origin of the Coronavirus. 1 Like |

Kaamisha: Almost all kindergarten, primary and secondary schools in China have resumed. Although some kindergartens in Beijing are yet to resume. Universities would resume sometime this month although they have all been having classes online since March. @ the emboldened: There's no perfect country on earth. The have and the have-not will always be amongst us so it is not out of the ordinary to see Chinese people sweating it out in underground factories and often living in squalid conditions. Such inhumane conditions aren't unique only to the Chinese. Go to Dubai and witness the debasing conditions in which some of our people work and live in. You are wrong to think only Chinese people work in sweatshops. Do you know citizens of poorer European countries work in squalid conditions in the UK? Go and watch Work UK Border Inspection TV. series. China, with a population of 1.3+ billion people feeds its citizens but Nigeria with, a population of 200+ million people CANNOT feed its citizens! What's more? Almost every city, town, village, hamlet in China has constant and affordable electricity supply. In Nigeria, electricity generation is rocket science! Abeg, face front. Transfer all the hate you have for China on our leaders. Cheers! 1 Like |

Horlaarsco: Look at it this way: Someone is asymptomatic to COVID-19. Totally unaware he has the virus, gets on an airplane and unwittingly spreads the virus. Do you blame him? The WHO should take the fall for not restricting cross-border travels early enough. If the WHO hadn't stupidly relied on China's inaccurate data, perhaps we won't be in this global mess. So, blame the WHO. |

chukxie:In case you missed it, there's information from a credible source that 17 intelligence agencies carried out investigations and found out that covid-19 originated from a Lab in Wuhan, although not intentionally. China's negligence, blatant refusal to be honest (they claimed there was no evidence of human to human transmission), manipulating the WHO to lie for them... brought us where we are today. Now they've fixed their mess and we're the ones left to suffer. I remember when trump banned flights from China into the US when news of the virus first came out, they called it the "racist ban".. but here we are. Not only developing/underdeveloped countries have been brought to their knees at the mercy of the virus. Look at Italy, Spain, the UK and even the US to an extent. China lied... for the longest, and people died. |

mediocre:You are sick. It is China that asked Kano and other Northern cities not to lockdown when everyone locked down? It is China that told stupid Aboki with covid19 to roam about and mingle with people when he knows he had covid19, it is China that asked people that arrived from foreign countries to be moving as they like when they were told to isolate? You brought this upon yourselves, stop blaming China 1 Like |

martineverest:In research competitions everybody steals. To overtake a dying empire you must not have all the luxuries. When America overthrew Europe they were not ahead scientifically. They are always the constants that lead to rise and fall of nations that precipitate a rise or fall of a nation. Take it or leave it those factors are against America today. They are too divided, they are too indebted, they are too entangled in external conflicts, their researchers and inventors are so unloyal that anything they do can be leaked, they have stayed too long as masters that many would want a change etc; so they are on their way to cue behind others. 1 Like |

chukxie: Have I anywhere said that only the Chinese slave in sweatshops? Stop comparing European countries to China. Workers are organized in unions in Europe, there are Safety and Health Acts and Laws and in some countries minimum wages. It's because there are no such things in China that European and American companies manufacture their products there. If Americans or Europeans exploited humans they way the Chinese do, no European or American company would go there. |

Kaamisha: The person who either directly or indirectly; knowingly or unknowingly pays for workers to be exploited and the person who provides workers to be exploited are both guilty of the same crime. It's akin to the relationship that exists between a sex syndicate, a love-vendor and a hooker. Perhaps you need to be more objective in your criticism of China rather than writing with your emotions. Every country exploits certain vulnerable groups of workers. From Bangladesh, India, Nigeria (Indians and Lebanese pay Nigerians peanuts for back-breaking jobs), Europe (especially Eastern Europe ), the UK, the US, China... |
Re: COVID-19: Students In Wuhan, China Return To School by Kaamisha: 12:17pm On May 07, 2020 |
chukxie: I agree but the topic wan't about corporate responsibility but China. If we want to discuss guilt and responsibility, we would have to consider consumer greed as well. Again, we have been talking about China here, not Bangladesh or India, which, I agree, are not better than China when it comes to human rights and employee protection. But even if we did talk about those countries, the simple reason that people are exploited in other Asian or African countries does not make China any better. As for Eastern European countries, which ones are you talking about exactly? Because there are many and most of them are far better in terms of human rights, civil rights and health and safety protection at the workplace than China. There are nuances and degrees in everything and the simple reason that you can't treat humans the way you can in China is why almost the entire textile industry manufactures their products there with children inhaling toxic fumes from the burning of shoe gums because they don't care about environmental protection either. |

Kaamisha: Have you ever been to any factory in China? Ever? You watch too much CNN, Foxnews, BBC...hence their narratives are all over your write-up. Can't blame you, though. Listen, man, agreed the Chinese can be shady and often times downright untrustworthy. Don't these same adjectives apply to the Americans, the Brits, The French, The German...? They are all the same. You mentioned human rights. In America, for the tiniest of infractions blacks are gunned down by white supremacist officers. Oftentimes those killer police officers are either found not guilty or given some ridiculously light sentences. How many times have you heard of blacks being killed by racist police officers in China? I live in China so I'm speaking from experience and not from the skewed news pedalled by Western media houses. Again, the Chinese are shady, but they are not as bad as being portrayed by the West. 3 Likes |
