Programming is only a tool for communicating with computers. There are many things you can ask a computer to do; web design, app design and data science are common examples.

You only need mathematics and stats if you're going to data science and related fields.

UI/UX designers are more or less graphics designers.

In summary, you don't need to be a mathematician before venturing into programming.
