Love4God:

Nigerians must learn to obey rules especially covid-19 social distancing rule. I believe the government should reduce the days which banks and markets are to open to just two days per week for at least two weeks to serve as warning to those who took the social distancing rule as a joke .
After the two weeks, the banks and markets should re-open but this time there should be an arrangement to arrest all those flouting the social distancing rule in markets, banks especially etc.
The arrested violators of the social distancing rule should be taken to testing centers and if they are negative they should be sent to a mobile court but if they are infected they should be taken to isolation centres.
The minimum use of force is the only way to make nigerians understand that the social distancing rule is for the benefit of all nigerians.

Trashes u are saying.

Na only u get head wet fit die.

Like the govt's bias palliative reached u.

One thing we know is that, those who fear most die first.

My argument here is lockdown isn't for us Africans most especially nigerians. The countries you guys are mentioning provided some sorts of palliatives to their citizens when they imposed the fascist lockdown approach on their citizens. Even at that, the lockdown didn't actually contained the virus in those countries. What contained the virus a little bit when was mass testing was carried out, the importance of social distancing was preached by their leaders and the use of face masks was enforce on the citizens. Go figure my bro.

I don't know but I just believe the media are the number proponents of this lockdown approach. Lol is like they are against anything that isn't lockdown.

We shouldn't always forget that what we think actually worked for Europeans will really work for us. The former cbn governor provided a nice African solution on how we can contain the virus the African way, but I believe the PTF on covid19 don't want to use his approach.

Ps: God has been the one that is protecting us. If not....?.... hmmm
Running tests without restricting movements will only be like chasing a shadow.... because as u are testing, people are moving and spreading it to every area.

Testing is good but lock down enables quick containment...That is where Nigeria has failed..the period of lock down should have been used to do mass testing.. US,UK nd Italy all didn't act fast, same mistake we made.

in the course of contagious pandemic management, both in animals nd humans, quarantine nd isolation is the first means to control its spreads.

This is a disease, it knows no country, skin colour or race..... it is not a government where u will say the system working in UK won't work here.

Restricting movement is the first global measure to control contagious pandemics.

Lastly, about palliatives..... Not every US or UK citizens received palliatives or stimulus reliefs....
I have friends in the UK nd US(especially the self- employed and private workers) who have been complaining of going broke because of the lock down.

the fact is , these countries with large populations can't feed everyone, that is why economies are being forced to reopen.

I have an American who is a hairstylist...He told me he sometimes sneak to clients homes to dress hairs so he could feed.
That is why u are seeing protests in different US states like Michigan nd California.
So it's not all green everywhere

Do you know 55million people die yearly normally from diabetes, obesity, violence, poverty, natural deaths and other causes normally?

Do you know how long Coro will be with us,lockdown is not sustainable, we are a poor country, government is begging and borrowing up and down, are you not thinking of the death and deprivation that 80% of the population will be subjected to in further lockdown?

Coro kills less than 10% of those infected, some people immune can resist it, just like we are living with HIV anc co, soon Coro will be like that, our lives can not stop because of one virus. Lockdown for Lagos is a lazy approach, and not proportionate to the present threat. Lockdown does more harm than good in Lagos., time for lockdown has passed, the world is moving on with research, and management of the virus and the patients, lockdown is not sustainable, hence its good we learn to live with Coro now, while we look for ways to beat it.

U said Diabetes kill more abi?
well, coro is just 5months old nd over 300k people are dead..despite trying to control it.
imagine if everyone is let loose nd people start living like its nothing.... u know how many people go die?

we are over 7billion people, over 4million are infected plus over 300k deaths.... Imagine when 5billion people get infected....
it fatality rate is low doesn't mean when more people get infected, death toll won't jump.

Easing the economy is good for us but how do our own people respond to the self safety guidelines?

u see how people comply to this safety directives in these countries.... but enter naija nd see how people behave like goats.... They are complaining that the west, east nd south are mostly not obeying these rules....but come here in the north nd see rubbish.

no hand or self hygiene,no social distancing compliance.

Lock down is not for us...at same time, easing lock down is not for us too.

Stay safe.

Less than 300k worldwide since december 2019 is still a small number, most of the cases are in Europe and America, Africa has less than 20% off the worldwide death rate, let us look at things in perspective...300k dead in 6 month, means at most 600k in a year, still a far cry from 55million that meet their demise each year normally, people are always exiting and entering the world, this Corona is a big media hysteria, bad news is big business, it is not as sordid as we make it seem, soon our immune systems will adapt, vaccines and medicines will be developed to deal with it. please lets focus on solutions and stop spreading fear senselessly. Lagosians are smart people, not goats, government only need to apply more enforcements.

The numbers you quote are dumb, only less than 10% of infected people die, and your assumption of 5billion being infected is far fetched, and illogical talk, let us talk like sensible people, not market women, you said a lot of nonsense without proffering a reasonable way forward, thank God Nigeria is not filled with prophet of doom and myopic people like you...noone said people should be careless, of course everyone should wear face masks, adhere to social distancing and stay home if you don't need or have to go out, if you or some are goats and cant comprehend these safety measures, then stay home, or die well.

I think I made my point without insults though...
I won't go down that line of weakness and immaturity from u.....

Now let's go down biology nd let's talk about contagious diseases, viruses, pandemics in that angle.

Mode of transmission determines how fast a disease spreads..... In the case of Covid -19 aka SARS cov2, it's means of transmission to its hosts many....Meaning in an infected community, the chances of contracting it are high as u don't just get infected via coughs, sneezes too...
Surface infections has been one of its successful means of getting into its hosts; thus enabling a single person to likely infect many others nd those infected people going on to infect others, nd so the chain goes.
The problem is not the virus itself, but the rate at which it spreads like wildfire.....
u know nothing about science or biology from the way u talk, no u surely don't.... so when I say it can infect up to 5bn people if people are let loose nd living carelessly, u won't understand.

U can go online and tune in to any virology class nd add more knowledge to ur head if u wish.

U are comparing other European nd American countries to Africa shows u know little.

I believe u also don't know the more tests u do, the more cases u are likely to find.... when there are not enough tests, how do u pick up a positive case?

America alone has done 9million tests...more than Africa itself I guess.

we have done just 29,000 tests with almost 5k cases
would the figure be the same if we had done 2million tests

This thing has been on a regional move...
Africa is the last hit continent.... According to health professionals, it is likely going to be its last epicenter.

And people here are aiding it to achieve its aim, since a lot are not obeying safety measures.
The north here is already feeling the heat because of carelessness..... evensome of it's citizens are now trying to escape to other regions.

That is the power of a contagion.
Most people will recover, but what about people who have been managing themselves with Ailments like Asthma, heart diseases, diabetics, sickle cells, etc.

these people plus the elderly are in their hundreds of millions globally..... if it hits these vulnerable people, u'll understand my point of it's more deadly than diabetes.... u know how many hundreds of millions of lives will be lost?

When u understand biology, u'll know it's real nd not a media hype.

lagosians are smart people but there av being complaints of u lots not obeying rules...ur government is even contemplating on another lock down.

well done, una really dey obey

This is most cheering news that I read today. Lockdown has not achieved any purpose in Nigeria. Before Lockdown, our positive cases in Nigeria was two-digits after lockdown it skyrocketed to four-digits 5000. Even after lockdown in Lagos , the cases has reduced compare to what Lagos used to record during Lockdown ( 100+ 200+) . Nigerian government should make Madagascar convid-19 organic cure available for everyone and normal life should be restored immediately.

No more lockdown!!!

What are you saying Mr. Man?

How is lockdown a waste of time in places like Italy, Spain and U.S?

How many more people would have died?

Is it because it didn't affect anyone close to you?

What about the overwhelming of medical centres for those who have other terminal illnesses to get treatment?

How could u predict how many could have died without lockdown? Did Taiwan lock down? What about Sweden? Czech Republic? Tanzania? Cross river? Kogi? Can you compare the number of death in those climes with what obtains in those countries that locked down?

In 6 months time the world will look back and realize that their has been no bigger mistake ever made than this thoughtless lockdown strategy ever!

Epidemiologists warned that interactions with viruses breeds antibodies that will eventually lead to herd immunity (exactly the strategy Sweden adopted) running away from it will make u very susceptible to it when you eventually relax the lockdown!

I think you need to do a research on the countries you listed and compare them with the countries I mentioned and also Nigeria.

There are actually documentaries out there like the one I saw on Sweden that explains why they didn't need a lockdown.

So why did Nigeria need a lockdown? The rate of infection and death was even higher during the lockdown period than when it has been relaxed... Nigeria simply doesn't have what it takes to enforce a lockdown, we tried and even the government was thoroughly embarrassed, During lockdown millions of people were keeping vigil in the streets because of one million boys, police was collecting bribes, some bars were even open, is that one lockdown? Pray how do you lock down areas like majidun, okokomaiko, ajegunle and all the many shanty towns all over Lagos?

Copy and paste strategies don't work, WHO warned Nigeria to look inwards for our own strategy to fight the virus, rather like bats we blindly copied the lockdown strategy and now surely the nation's economy will enter a recession for a 2nd time in 5 years, Buhari will go down in history as the only preident globally to have pushed his nations economy into a recession at 3 different times!

yes lockdown is a waste of time and useless in Nigeria because our mode of living and type of houses in this country can not make lockdown to be meaninful, we can not be copying the west in everything.
