EricBloodAxe:

Why don't they initiate the IPPIS for the Presidency down to the Senators, Reps, Governors etc. Is it the poor lecturers who are underpaid in the first place that'll cushion the effects of a bad economy?
...we are still waiting for Buhari to do that.. grin grin grin

You must have been following a lot of government propaganda against ASUU.
Ask any if your trusted relations who is a lecturer.
...I have them, and they are doing fine. My secondary school mate is a prof, he's doing well, and I know is just not his salary he's depending on.

Why not post the figures BEFORE IPPIS as well nah?

GoldenJulius:

Abi oo, make dem post am
They have been avoiding normal charges and dues for years

Did you understand the table before commenting? What do you think is the meaning of the fourth column?

heykims:
You should also tell us the pay before IPPIS. IPPIS didn't cut down salaries but ensures tax, pension and other deductions are optimally removed.
People in academics have been evading tax for years and IPPIS enrolment will break that.
Mind u, civil servants are generally poorly paid not just professors.
Op is also a liar, there are other allowances attached.
Sorry o. If you schooled well, you would have known the meaning of "gross" with reference to salaries. Learn the meaning of gross, then back and look at the table again.

The Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) is an information Communications Technology (ICT) project initiated by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of payroll administration for its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Check out this link below to help you understand whose pocket they are improving.

I'd expected u to reason better as an academic.

While not absolving university lecturers of corruption, one cannot but suspect the Buhari Administration of trying to dumb down and destroy the Educational system.

This is to ensure an almajirisation of the educated parts of Nigeria.

I implore Nigerians to put aside all sentiments and elect a good ,youthful leader in 2023,because if we don't get it right then, Nigeria will require an event of seismic proportion to get back on track.

1. This is not about any part of Nigeria pls. As reasonable people, we should think about our collective well-being and progress. If countries are able to unites races, then it's a huge shame that Nigeria cannot unite tribes of the same race.

2. Age has nothing to do with it. Itnis about having responsible leaders, not those who take their children to school abroad while they stay behind to destroy the local universities. Yahaya Bello is younger than both Ambode and Sanwo-Olu, but the difference is more than clear.

Then use the knowledge that a professor that you know does not depend on his salary alone, to be "doing well".

How do you compare research output of someone who sponsors research out of the meagre pay above with that of other countries who get jumbo pay and still give huge research grants and allowances? Does that make any sense?

By the way, the pic below answers the first part of your post...

Mr Academic, u earlier claimed the gross was the take home salary before introduction of IPPIS. That was ur reply by referring to the 4th column when u were asked about salary before IPPIS.

So taxes, NHF, Pension and Dues were not being deducted from their gross salary BEFORE IPPIS?

You're just sounding rude and aggressive for nothing.

From the table, the fourth column is the monthly gross pre-IPPIS, the tenth column is now the gross after IPPIS deductions. They are both gross salaries, which means allowances are already added.

But the deductions are for their benefits. With time they will get used to IPPIS. I have an uncle that lectures in 4 schools and receive salary from all. Why is ASUU only talking about the deductions and not the ghost workers and members occupying multiple employment opportunities meant for other Nigerians.

See Take Home Pay Of A Professor After IPPIS

These people have made up their minds to completely destroy the public university system.

Is this what a professors takes home in the universities that their own children do attend?

342k per month (less than $1,000) after about 20 years in service, and so many promotions.

This is just the end of the public university in Nigeria.

Note: 4th column says "gross", and gross means total including all allowances.

While our Lazy useless Senators and Rep members representing their belle and bank account are carting Hundred of millions home.

Even their pet allowance is far better than all these.

What do the professors contribute. That is the question. Is it not here that we hear professors using research grants to buy house and car
