Wow!.....a nigerian politician with conscience?....i'm shocked! I saw similar traits in buhari (pre-2015 elections) but he turned out to be the worst, heartless, self-serving scum i ever WASTED my vote on! |

holyidol: Rest a bit iyeh... Don't come n die b4 Ur time. He was the one who passed law on taxation n businesses closed. Past 2days, cabs n keke are not being arrested on ticket, they r arrested on the whims of wrong parking (unfortunately when those boys get u even if u speak in tongues ure guilty). Street traders dat r supposedly exempted paid money yesterday to avoid being arrested as breaking the law on ban of street trading (which na still Ayade sign into law). So I repeat there Ur dey o. "I'm ready to be poor for Cross Riverians to be rich". Lmao. The above statement can win the biggest joke of the century. Nigerian politicians are all clowns making jest of the poor. |

If he is serious about it let him sponsor a bill or issue an Executive Order to that effect Taxes issues are law issues. Such Issues are not discussed and concluded on television Please Come to think of it, what is the percentage of taxes paid by this category of tax payers to the total taxes revenue accrued to the state. This kind of move should be made to save the industries in the state. That is, cut payroll taxes; pay the rent for the poor; support them with groceries As bad as our our database for citizens proper identification, NO state government has taken decisive steps to ensure that the identity details of the citizens and residents are well captured |

rowland545:Ure staying outside the state to ask people to commend the governor. Ask us who live in the state let's paint the true situation for u. That's how he decieved y'all that he was enforcing complete shutdown of borders by going to sit at the head bridge for an hour n snap pictures. Immediately he left that night the bridge was opened by his officials after payment of 1.5k per checkpoint. That's how my cousin came into town 2 Likes |

My answer to this nonsense, which I’ve just sent to the WhatsApp platform of former CRS political appointees, which also includes some Ayade appointees. You have my full permission to send to whoever you want from CRS and tell them that I said it. “So, the State is Ben Ayade and Ben Ayade is the State? Personalizing everything, including making tax laws? Somebody please tell our Governor that, first, all the people he’s talking about WERE NEVER within the State statutory tax net in any event. Second, even if they were, it is clear that they mostly, of not all, also fall BELOW the tax threshold and so, under existing law, already enjoy tax-exempt status. So, why “exempt” them from something they are not part of anyway? Now, if the real problem is that his own appointees are abusing their offices and preying on citizens of the State, how does an anti-tax Agency, instead of firmly disciplining those abusive political appointees, solve the problem? Why not generate the political will and moral authority and use our existing laws to deal firmly and squarely with the “revenue point” and “market levy” mentality that has taken over the brains of too many political appointees? Third, presumably, it is now within the ambit of the anti-tax agency to issue tax exempt affirmation. Isn’t this the power of the BIR under State law? Why create an agency that mirrors half of the responsibility of BIR but does not have the requisite specialist training and experience of a tax agency? Finally, I wonder how the Governor’s tears square up with the 5 years of pursuing grandiose projects that he KNOWS would never be financed but he still went ahead to award consulting contracts, land clearing contracts that deprived the same people for whom he’s shedding hot years and rather than care for them spend money that should have gone into valuable sectors like health (which we now desperately miss) and education and simply keeping the State safer. What exactly is our Governor really crying for? Are those tears for real? Exempting a category that is already exempt? We’ve seen this film show before. 5 years down the road I am no longer impressed. Eyo O. Ekpo Attorney-General/ Commissioner for Justice (2003-2007)” 2 Likes |

Our problem is not the payments but the judicious usage of the taxes, how do we demand accountability from government if we dont pay taxes. 1 Like 1 Share |

Our problem is not the payments but the judicious usage of the taxes, how do we demand accountability from government if we dont pay taxes. Comparing okada man or other petty traders with a hotelier with 49 rooms is not right at all. I would rather pay my tax and see development to exemption. Just my own opinion. 1 Like 1 Share |

Playing to the gallery. Does poor pay tax in Nigeria? From which income will they pay that? Tax are mostly obtained from civil servant and companies, even at that the disproportionate tax system that make the rich get away with huge amount while the struggling low income earner part with a large chunk of their income needs to be addressed. What about the value added tax that makes life tough for the poor? |

Promisenwokebu2:u should have remained quiet instead of your nonsense rant. A governor is acting a film to pretend that he cares for his people. How long has he been in power? Is it now he realised that his agents are collecting money from low income people? If he stops the illegal levies, allowances and security votes and channel the illegal security votes and allowances to projects that will alleviate the suffering of the people, won't that be better?. |
