Looking at history in Chelsea football club you would realize the greatest Chelsea strikers chose a different shirt number as for Didier Drogba it was 11 and Diego Costa choosing number 19. Both players were free to pick the No 9 jersey during signing but snubbed it and maybe its proofs the mythical thinking under the iconic jersey.Over the past years the club has field expensive great striker in the iconic shirt
Most of them failed to deliver terribly and the current holder Tammy Abraham might be affected with the curse. The 22-year-old academy graduates looks to break that curse but time will tell.

Past holders of the jersey
Alvaro Morata (£60 million 2017)
With a big price tag comes responsibility… and the former real Madrid and Juventus striker broke the club record fee. Starting the season on high note he deteriorated along the way and finally lost his starting place to Oliver Giroud and later ditching the number nine shirt
