That was how a pharmacist or attendant or whatever gave me an eye drop after the doctor prescribed an ear drop for me recently. I was almost walking out of the hospital before I discovered. I'm very glad it's something easy to detect. What if its those drugs with complicated names that someone can't easily deduce what it's main function is? That's how she would have complicated matters for me.

We noticed some rash in our 4 months old baby's sex organ which I perceived is a reaction from her diapers, we took her to the hospital for checkup and they recommended anti fungal cream to be applied and instructed that we don't wear her diapers for now while we apply the cream.

While waiting at the hospital pharmacy I noticed the attendant was taking longer time to attend to me, because the doctor had already written to them what they should give to me with my baby's file in front of the attendant. The attendant still asked how old is the baby I said 4 months. She was just giving excuses that she's coming that I should be patient, so I sat down.

After some time she brought the cream and some drugs. We left and got home very late last night, so my wife suggested my baby should start the drugs by morning but we should apply the cream given to us and we did not wear our baby diaper as instructed.

So this morning my wife decided to read through the leaflet in each of the drugs including the cream. To our greatest surprise the cream was strictly meant for adults and it was categorically stated it should not be used for children under age 18

Now, I'm wondering why would the hospital pharmacy attendant give us such cream. Is it that the prescribed cream wasn't available that was why she was going to and fro like the devil described in the book of Job in the Holy Bible.

Please what's your advise on this matter, is it a careless mistake or it was a deliberate act.

May be it was a mistake like we have baby tribotan n adult tribotan

You really can't sue the hospital for anything because you are lucky that no harm has been done to your child since the medication has not been applied. What would you sue them for? Maybe negligence. Negligence on what basis? Of course there was negligence on the part of the hospital but their negligence did not bring any harm to your child.

It's like a day I saw what looked like a big fungal growth in a beverage drink I have not opened. I probably would have been poisoned if I had drank it. I thought I could sue manufacturer but when I did some research I learn that it would have been a lost cause because I did not suffer any harm from it since I did not drink it.

No case in this inasmuch there's no any obvious damage. The best you can do is to approach the hospital, seen the doctor attention and listen to his/her views

You can get them punished. But you may not be able to lay claim to any damage or compensation.

This is very bad and careless of them. Shows the nurses donor know their onus or were they just carefree?
Thank God you haven't used the drugs on your baby. This is a lesson to parents, especially nursing mothers, please read drugs instructions very well before administering to your child. Many have died as a result of doctors or nurses mistakes.

He said attendant, not nurses. Moreover, please there's a difference between Nurses and quacks. Nurses spend years in school while quacks are trained in private hospitals

Please sue the hospital OP maybe the number of quacks in Nigeria will reduce. Quacks are doing us more harm than good.

Ensure the person treating you is a Registered Nurse not a quack. Ask for their license. Ask the school she went to

Sue if you have the time. There was a time I took my 7months old baby to a hospital. When the doctor was prescribing the drugs, luckily he mentioned the dosage to my hearing but on getting home, the nurse wrote 5ml to be taken. I had to call the hospital& it turns out the nurse was wrong. Since then I google for every drug to be used on the kids when given & I have a trusted pharmacist that I call to complain or make enquiry from at times even before going to the hospital.

Be calm my brother,
As a father myself, i will advice you go back and get clarification.
These medications always have dosages, for adult for instance it may require 3 times daily for 5 days. Now because it's a baby, they will reduce the dosage to say one daily for 3 days. If its tablet for adult of a certain mg, and your kid needs lower, they may ask you to break into two and give lesser dosage.
From experience it's actually the drill, so fright not. To satisfy your curiosity, go back and confirm.
Good luck!

You dont need to sue anybody. Just read the leaflets in drugs well before using them. I bought an antifungal cream too for my baby based on the pharmacist recommendation only to get home and saw what you saw too..... Not recommended for children under 18year. I had to return it. The pharmacist insisted I can still use it in small portions but I refused. I got canesten cream later and it worked perfectly. Wheatfield ointment is also good

Buhari and his emissary should go learn about 21st century farming from the Netherlands, cos it appears the president is still referring to the hoe and cutlass system of farming which would obviously yields no result judging by d vast demand of food by the over 200million inhabitants
