9 Easy Ways To Save Money So You Can Travel by witchwoodstore: 7:02pm On May 24, 2020 |
Hello guys, wanted to share my money saving tips, that passively raise my emergency stash. Proudly, I'm full-time blogger, so I travel often (and I often lack money ). Hope you'll find it helpful! 1. Create a Separate Bank Account Go to your bank and set up a separate account just for your travels. Put money in it as often as you can, but promise yourself you won't withdraw any until you are ready to go. Refer to it as the "vacation fund" to remind yourself why it is there. 2. Find at Least One Way to Cut Back If you know you're heading out of town on a big trip within a few months, find something you can do daily or weekly to cut back on spending. Maybe you spend $6 on Starbucks every day. Instead, make coffee at home or work and put that $6 away for your trip. You won't miss it from your regular budget. In three months, you might have enough to pay for your trip gas or food. 3. Sell Something Do you have a closet full of nice clothing that you never wear? Do you have an old appliance that you need to find a new home for? Maybe you inherited some old collectibles from a relative, but you have no desire to hang onto them and they are fairly valuable. If so, head straight to eBay or Craigslist and start selling. You can also have a garage sale. You can create a blog or a website to sell online. Put the extra income away for your vacation. 4. Start Cooking Going out to eat may be convenient, but it is not good for your budget. A month or so before your trip, plan a menu that allows you to buy and cook foods that will last for multiple meals. You'll cut back on spending, and the extra money can go towards food during your vacation. 5. Save Your Change If you kept a piggy bank as a child, it might be time to bring it back out, or at least the concept. You can also use a jar or even a shoebox. At the end of each day or week, put all of your leftover change and small bills into it. You will be surprised how quickly it all adds up. 6. Pick Up Some Odd Jobs Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you're too old to pick up some extra part-time work for friends or family. Maybe your mom has complained for months that she couldn't find anyone to hire to clean out her basement, or maybe your sister is looking for someone to watch the kids once a week so she can have a date night. Volunteer and save the extra money for your trip. 7. Look for Coupons You can find countless ways to save money on everything from food to hotel rooms these days just by doing a quick Internet search. If you start using coupons for groceries, take whatever money you saved and put it away for your trip. If you know where you want to go, start looking for discounts on things to do, restaurants, and hotels in that area. 8. Take Advantage of Smartphone Apps There are countless smartphone apps on the market geared towards helping you save money. Whether they help you budget your money or help you find ways to save on airfare, use them to your advantage. Some of them can even help plan your trip. 9. Make a Chart Sometimes you just need to see what you are saving in order to motivate yourself, so try making a chart to hang on the wall in your home somewhere. Every time you add money to your vacation account or change jar, update the chart. This way you can monitor how close you are to taking that trip and how much more you need to put away. |
