Senate Presidemt Ahmad Lawan says Nigeria is still heavily burdened with a high number of out-of-school children; the situation which, according to him, portends a grave danger for the country and is unacceptable.

Lawan, in a statement yesterday by his spokesman, Ola Awoniyi, to commemorate this year’s Children’s Day, said the surest route to a happy and fulfilling future for children was to provide them quality education and healthcare, and to protect them against all forms of abuse.

He urged all states of the federation to domesticate the Child Rights Act. The Act, enacted in 2003, guarantees, among others, the right of a child to free, compulsory and universal primary education.

“I want to use the opportunity of this occasion to assure our children that the National Assembly is fully aware of the challenges that they face and will continue to work to guarantee them and our country a better future.”

Lawan called for collaboration between the Federal and state governments in comprehensively addressing issues relating to the plight of Nigerian children.

He also urged parents to dutifully play their own role in providing the immediate needs for their children, for the future peace of the children, parents and the country.

Yet people will say Nigeria’s strength is its population.

How can your strength be an undereducated population?

The ones that are in-school, what difference has it made?

It's better to be out-of-school and become a successful Marlian, than be in school, only to end up shouting Team Tacha and team Mercy.

There are many of them littered all over the internet. There are some presently, they wake up each precious day and head straight to expired last year BBN section on Nairaland, they fight dirty about their favourite housemates, from morning till evening. That's how they spend each day.
Others are on Twitter, Instagram, FB and else where, reacting to every unimportant posts on so-called celebrity pages, begging for money, and glorifying rétarded elements like Marley. That is what it means to be in-school these days on this side of the planet. Most end up asslickers to nonentities.

Even college drop out, Bill Gates, was educated.

Northern Nigeria has it more bros.
But all you and other supposed Northern elites do is, not to care about the poor in your society.

You take the money meant for their welfare and stock up in your Babaringas.

Then you let them call you Master while they see you as gods.

And your "educated" children are too foolish enough to seek validation on the internet with dead pictures (Well, that was how y'all were brought up too. Starve your community people and still rub it in their faces.)

I no kuku blame una. Na the Northern people wey still no gree wise go suffer am.

Omo! This Nigeria thing is wrong on all levels.
