Do we have sense?

So basically psychology and the study of human behavior have been one of the most useless course in Nigeria today cause the government have refused to be sensitize the masses on the importance of their mental health, no wonder even in government owned hospital you barely see up to 4 functioning psychologist and even in mental asylums like yaba and aro the number of psychologist are few and just ward technicians are many. So what’s happening to the number of graduates from psychology in our universities?
no proper research was carried out but many have gone to look for “side hustles” or venture into other medical fields. So why does schools still offer this courses? One would think they are of the believe that all graduates should travel abroad to practice. Now we have a growing number of mentally challenged people in our society causing havoc. Just the other day a lady was stabbed by one who claims she was disturbing him.
How society at large contributes to the growing number of mentally challenged

Here’s a scenario:

A lady have just witnessed a cultist been butchered and his gut spilled all over, she’s traumatized and now hallucinating, seeing things that are not there, nightmares and having mental breakdowns rather than her family taking her to the hospital to see a doctor who would refer her to a shrink. Her family see it as a waste of money and decided to take her to the church, prayers were conducted and fasting was carried out after 7 days she seems to be getting worse and then they took her to an Alfa also meanwhile all this exorcism she’s been subjected to is making her more traumatized. It’s been 6 months of no improvement and her family have gotten tired of her constant night screams they decided to abandon her at the nearest local psychiatric home thinking she’s mad and then 2 years down the line she’s still caged in her mental distortions now her amygdala, cerebellum and hippocampus are totally damaged and she can’t remember anything and might be too far gone. She now wanders the street after been chased out of the asylum cause her family can’t keep up with the payment for her spot and the cycle continues over and over.

Conclusion

It’s highly important that the community is sensitized on how important it is to see a therapist when been traumatized or depressed so as to help curb not just the amount of mentally challenged people but also reduce suicide... what are we doing about this growing number.

Do we really have sense?

Nigeria doesn't take mental health seriously....

We tend to believe that religion or spirituality answers ever question that's how suicide is rampant these days.

I wonder the rationale behind taking mentally challenged people to prayer houses.... That's the real madness
