From what I just saw, the sales of multiple sims is responsible for such growth. MTN came top because they enjoy large economies of scale as result offer cheap data plan to selected numbers

it's not that, glo is also owned by a Nigerian but 9mobile plans are just too expensive.
Airtel also has terrible plans I recently bought Airtel 500 just to check out the network only to discover I can't get more then 1gb with it when mtn and glo gives me a way better deal I ended using it for night plans cause I felt it was stupid wasting the 500.

Airtel has one of the cheapest data plan in town. With Airtel binge, you get 1gig for N300 valid for one day, 2gig for N500(valid for 2days). Dial *141# to choose from the varieties of plans

I get 1gb from mtn for 200 for 7 days so coming from that and also glo data and call bonus anytime I recharge it's not cheap.

Mtn offers you 1g for N200 for limited time. Once that time elapses, you will not enjoy such offer anymore. Their strategy is to generate more revenue from data especially from those rarely browse with their sim or use it that often. Glo gives you bonus on calls that is regressive in nature though their data isn't. Airtel offers not just cheap data but availability of network.
