News filtering in from Abia State early this morning is that governor Okezie Ikpeazu has tested positive for Corona Virus (Covid-19). Although the details are still sketchy, but e-nigeria! gathered that the governor had earlier submitted his sample to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control – NCDC for testing and it initially came back negative, but on a second test carried out on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 the result came back as positive

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control – NCDC announced in a tweet that 260 new cases of Corona Virus (Covid) were recorded in Nigeria.



According to NCDC the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria is now 12, 4846, however, Abia State recorded the highest number of infected persons for the day with 67 persons testing positive.

www.e-nigeriang.com gathered that among the 67 persons who tested positive for Covid-19 in Abia are top government officials whose identities are yet to be disclosed. The development was said to have prompted Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to proceed for a Covid-19 test.

Recall that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was a few months ago reportedly trapped in America as a result of travel restrictions aimed at cubing the spread of Covid-19.

Although his aides quickly refuted the claims, dismissing it for the handiwork of detractors, but multiple news sources confirmed the news amid vehement denials from Ikpeazu’s camp.

Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is the Governor of Abia State, in office since May 29, 2015. He was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. He was re-elected as the governor of Abia state after winning the March 9th, gubernatorial election
