Nonsense, borders were closed, most of the drugs and even hand sanitisers are made in India, India was not even exporting at a point. At a point hand sanitisers were so scarce that the prices hit the roof.
This government is careless and stupid, pharmaceuticals used to pay the lowest import duties so that essential drugs could be made available for the populace, this Mumu government came and hiked everything, yet they expect pharmacies to sell at low prices and break even.
I can't wait to leave this chaotic environment.
Calling Nigeria a zoo is an insult to zoos.

I bought a Nature field vitamin C at the rate of N800 (30pcs) last year December. I bought another one N2650 (100pcs) by January this year. Fast forward to April this year I went to the same pharmacy to by 100pcs but to my surprise the price has been increased to N3500(30pcs) and N7500(100pcs) respectively. The inflated price in Nigeria is killing us slowly.

Arraign for what?
What kind of country is this?
Demand and supply drive prices. They should know that already if they went to school.
A government that has sense could have countered price hikes by investing in massive production of those items.

Frivolous suit.
Businesses are free to set whatever price they want.

No, they aren't. There is a concept in Economics called Price Gouging. It's a bad practice, and there are laws against it. Even here in Nigeria.

Price gouging occurs when a seller increases the prices of goods, services or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair. Usually, this event occurs after a demand or supply shock. Common examples include price increases of basic necessities after natural disasters.

Buhari and his led government must be high on some dung shit

when they are imposing harsh various tax on private and public sector, arent they know they will also cut corner to stabilize their profit

There should never be a reason to cut corners... Other companies in the same business didn't avariciously inflate prices.

They were greedy, insensitive, and wicked!!! They should face the music!!!

Because there is a concept and a law against it that makes people feel good doesn't mean it is wrong.
There is business and there is emotion.

You can define anything into existence.

It is natural that price changes according to demand and supply.
"Fair price" is a meaningless concept unless it is clearly defined which takes us back to communist principles
of setting prices of goods and services. You can't eat your cake and have it.

If there was enough supply, there won't be "price gouging" in the first place.

Suppose I was able to secure a few mask supplies when everyone has run out of them.
If the price during the normal time is #100.
What is the unfair and unreasonable price cut-off point?
#110, #150, #250, #300, #500?

The defendant lawyers would have to be very dumb to lose this case.

A man did the same thing in the US, and he was taken to court - unless the US is no longer a capitalist country...

Openbusiness:
The government must be mad. Did they put gun on their head to buy? Is Nigeria not a capitalist country, or are we running a socialist government? How can you prosecute a business for selling its own product at its own price based on the number 1 fundamental law of business economics: the laws of demand and supply This Borrowhari government is just a disaster by all measurements. Russia and Saudi produce crude oil at $2 - $3 per barrel, yet this useless Borrowhari government produce their own at over $20 per barrel. But these bloody thieves didn't prosecute themselves, it is sanitizer seller that used his money, tools and time to produce and fix his price they want to prosecute, as if na their papa moni those businesses take buy market. Bloody terrorist government

A man was taken to court in the US for this same action, is the US now a socialist country ?

Openbusiness:

Crime how? It can never be a crime in a capitalist economy, which is what Nigeria is. It can only be a crime to a terrorist socialist government which this wicked government behaves like. That's 50 Cent hand sanitizer below, just 163ml only, costs about N3,200. So if I buy and import it, pay shipping, pay clearing, and this same useless government will still collect duty tax on it, and then I put it for sale at N12k, so this useless agency will now say they want to prosecute kwa? Thunder fire all una
