I recently discovered how to easily cook beans faster without much stress as you all know it is not easy to cook beans faster and very soft without either take much time or waste your gas kerosene or firewood.
The simple solution are :
1 make sure you sock it in water at least 10 minutes before cooking.

2 make sure your water boils a little before you pour it into the pot.

3 finally the most important. Look for a clean long nail either 2 or more and put inside the pot while cooking.
That's all for today you can give it a try and see.
Its very frustrating try to cook beans when you are very hungry but its a lot more easier with this methods.

The one that works for me is baking soda. Just add baking soda and your beans will soften faster, you can go ahead and drain the water and add fresh one if you feel you can taste the baking soda.

I agree to all the OP posted except for the nail part.
Nail ,baking soda is not adviceable.
I use alot of onions for my beans, fresh ginger, garlic to help soften and for taste.

I would advice you invest in kitchen appliances like a pressure pot even rice cooker can do the magic. It saves time alot. In my area where they sell hard and soft beans together. Within 5 minutes all is soft using my pressure pot.

Dn't use nail pls.. u might just be adding ferrous metal to ur food. Not ideal

Nail adds more iron to the content being cooked, thereby making it softer in no time.
Same is done to dry cow hide(kpomo)

Yes, iron in human.

I'm just afraid if it's directly same that can be gotten from these metals; maybe iron in human system is a redefined one.

Nail?

This is how people give themselves food poisoning and blame there village people.

Please DO NOT Add Nail to your beans.

The production of nail has more so many metallic substances that's hazardous to one's health.

Instead use baking soda or the best alternative.. Pressure pot.

Mind you the blood stream contains iron... Which comprises of hemoglobin but in a vary tiny amount which is gotten from plants like unripe plantain.
