The Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) led by Nigeria's Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has proposed to the Federal Government to consider suspending the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp exercise for Two years. This is amidst the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and the need to prevent its further spread in NYSC camps.

While the Committee presented its report to President Muhammadu Buhari during the previous week, it recommended the suspension of the NYSC camps for Twenty-four months. The new Corp members will however and instead be deployed directly to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA). This is to ensure no backlog of graduates in the one year mandatory scheme.
