• CBN, others seek solutions to distributors’ indebtedness to banks President Muhammadu Buhari has foreclosed the possibility of the federal government backing a unilateral takeover of the 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) by state governments following the poor performance of the Discos since the power assets were handed over to the private sector in 2013, THISDAY’s investigation has revealed. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2020/06/18/president-rejects-states-plan-on-unilateral-takeover-of-discos/ 4 Likes 3 Shares

three buckets of immediate, short-term and long-term solutions I thought a very "intelligent" man said solving the power problem in Nigeria is not rocket science? Please those of you who know him, kindly send him 3 solidly made buckets, maybe okplast or GP plast or eleganza plast Even Elon Musk and Sir Brownson have conquered rocket science Meanwhile dear supporters of backwardness your tariff will be increased for no reason and with no improvement come July 1st. Also those of you living in estates using independent power please swerve away, those in Bonny, Maiduguri and other places enjoying 24 hours light, no comments from you oh if I... for those in a bubble because they have 16 or 18 hours, don't trust any Disco oh, that bubble go soon burst ask PHEDC and JEDC 15 Likes

Why can't FG just allow states or regions to generate their own power and the rest will be shared to national grid for export. North- abundant sun and land for clean solar power. Southeast- massive coal for thermal plants. Southwest- long coastal line for wind power from Atlantic ocean plus a potential location for nuclear powerplant. South south- natural gas for gas plants. North central - hydroelectric power. Why do Africans like to make life hard for themselves? 59 Likes 3 Shares |

I'm sure his chief of staff had hinted him to reject the proposal, and once he obliged, the information that will be put out for all will be as though Buhari is even following the issue with apt intelligence and he rejected it. Meanwhile once there is pressure on why he rejected the proposal, Buhari will be the first to tell you he is not aware 3 Likes |

States that cannot afford to pay salaries or even their bills to the DISCOs? Well may be if they form a holding company owned equally by all the states and they buy off the DISCOs, then run it for profit. States should come together and go into joint ventures not just collect share from federation accounts and blow on pilgrimages or feeding the poor during Ramadan or stashing away.... We get useless governors shaaa 18 Likes |
