The Street Journal has learnt that a planned attack by members of the Islamist group, Hezbollah - a group that shares ties with Boko Haram - was foiled in Lagos with the arrest of Ali Mohammed El-Hassan by INTERPOL in Sudan. According to reports, security agents arrested El-Hassan before a major catastrophe would have struck. Details about this operation still remain sketchy at the moment because of the highly sensitive nature of the planned attack. A source, however, told TVC News that Hezbollah under the leadership of Mr El-Hassan had planned a major attack on Ikoyi and the Lekki areas of Lagos. Nigerian security agencies acted on a tip from international intelligence and apprehended the suspect at an undisclosed location in Ikoyi. Sources in the international community have also revealed that El-Hassan, a Nigerian citizen, was recruited by Hezbollah in 2011 after a religious conference in Tehran, Iran. He was later trained in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and recently operated as undercover for UNIT-400, the special forces unit of the Quds Force. It was further revealed that he used a fake Sudan passport to operate. El-Hassan reportedly lives in Ikoyi, Lagos.
