It is funny most times when you see how ridiculous the price of a once valued item was at the time it was in vogue. In Nigeria we have had a lot of very original items that were sold in the past for extremely low prices which might seem very unbelievable when we talk about them in a recent time. There are also some things that were very expensive, but are now sold for a very low price and even given out for free most times. Example of such is the Sim Card which cost very much back in the day and is being shared freely on the streets nowadays. The VW Beetle car which was a priced possession back in the 80’s was sold for a very cheap price.


The receipt of the car showed that it was sold for three thousand nine hundred and eight naira, 40 kobo. This is very funny because in recent times like this, people use that same amount to purchase fuel into their cars.



However, the question is does this mean that our currency has lost so much value, or that things were generally that cheap back in the days.
