T = 100+0.5t-0.01t^2
dT/dt = 0
dT/dt = 0.5-0.02t = 0
t = 0.5/0.02 = 25

d^2T/dt^2 = -0.01 (since it's negative, T is maximum)
T = 100 + 0.5×25 - 0.01×25^2
T = 106.25

d^2T/dt^2 = -0.01 (since it's negative, T is maximum)
T = 100 + 0.5×25 - 0.01×25^2
T = 106.25

Since the maximum temperature is 106.25, then cooling should start from that point, as the temperature drops. So, the time at which cooling starts should be 25 secs, based on your result.

This is probably how it should be. I did it this way as well, but if you look at it very well, you will realise that the 14th line is not true. Cos2(2x)= 1/2(1+cos4x), not 1/2(1+cos2x). With that, there is no way you will get that answer.

sir, it is not mathematical in trig identity to say Cos2(2x) = Cos4x, because Cos2(2x) is double angle formulae proven for standard trig identity, so the step is very correct...that was how I solved it too.
