Coming from an IGP....Police can't be everywhere, but politicans can reach everywhere when it comes to campaign and ballot boxes.

truly with the strength of personnel, they can't be everywhere but then there is a solution... make the police attractive to ppl so they will be happy to join the force in order to make the nation safer....

or state policing....simple

That's the reason why advanced countries deploy Security cameras and develop intelligence everywhere....

The more reason they profile everyone early.

You misspelled GUNS!

People should be able to defend themselves.

You don't even have to be anywhere.
There are hotspots in Nigeria, that is where your men are expected to be but NO... You are chasing and jumping over fences and killing people and their dogs.

Useless lots

Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu on Monday said the Police can’t be everywhere, at the same time.

Adamu stated this in Gombe during the state inauguration of the Community Policing Advisory Committee, which will be co-chaired by the Emir of Gombe, Sheu Abubakar, and the state Police Commissioner, Maikudi Sheu.

The IGP, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, in charge of Zone 3, Haliru Gwandu, said there was no better time than now for community policing to commence.

He said, “I consider this timely and very crucial. The Nigeria Police Force has continued to emphasise that while the police cannot be everywhere, our communities are found everywhere. Consequently, safety and security will be better guaranteed when and where members of the communities are actively involved in crime prevention and community safety.

“Since the formal introduction of community policing approach in 2004, NPF has made community policing the cardinal focus of efficient service delivery.”

He added that the emerging crime trend warranted the community policing strategy which, according to him, is citizen-centered.

On his part, Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, said security is highly imperative noting that without it, anarchy will set in.

“The provision of security is the number one priority of each government because when there is security, you can guarantee that lives will be protected and businesses will be sustained. We remain focused as far as security is concerned,” Yahaya said.

True talk !

Police is overstretched.

They can not be everywhere especially given our poor funding but in advanced countries police are everywhere.

That is still why the federal government should encourage states in Nigeria to have their own security architecture such as AMOTEKUN, SHEGE KA FASA etc

States Police if establish will give support to the federal security agencies.

States governor should stop the habit of donating equipment to the federal police instead they should use it to fund their own security bodies to support the federal police.

of course that is true
Re: Police Can’t Be Everywhere – IGP, Mohammed Adamu by Coldie(m): 2:17pm On Jun 24, 2020
This country and excuses.

If u withdraw half of all those police men u give to politicians, VIPs, expatriates and companies.

It would help our police force.

U would see just one man will be moving around with over 15 police men in a street where crime is very high.

Secondly even if Nigeria doesnt have enough police why not make them active, by making their call numbers open to everyone. In Nigeria many people dont have the police phone numbers, for u to report a crime u must come to the station.

Reaction time is very slow, in America if u call the police and they take up 30mins to come they will investigate the cause, but in Nigeria 1hour them never come, that's if they even agree to come.

Lastly since the police force can't secure our lives why dont they just allow for state police, as it will be closer to the people

Truth is that policing involves residents. Are residents watchful as well. CCTV's etc are very key to unravelling criminal activities

Nigeria is under policed right now, they need to recruit more men into the force.aside the security cameras, there should be an urgent need for a data bank of all nigerians.this will help the police to a large extent.
