The Rich Also Die "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?" Luke 12:16-20 Such was the false assurance of life that the possession of riches gave to the said man. He thought his riches equated to him living for "many years". Unknown to him, the day he foolishly thought that was going to be his last. There must be something about riches that makes men to lose their mind, integrity, sanity, focus, humility, sense of reality, and comportment. This could be the reason the Bible says, "How hard it is for who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God..." Luke 8:24-25 Maybe it's because they believe riches defines the measure of their lives...however the above example of the rich man demonstrates the danger in doing so, because the riches of a man doesn't assure his life. Luke 12:15 God called the rich man a fool for ever believing such a thing, because it is foolish to do so. Psalms 49:6, 20 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish. Therefore beware of the deceitfulness of riches because it has led many souls to damnation. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: One day every man shall give an account of his life on Earth, and worldly riches would not be able to save any man on that day, but righteousness. Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. So beware. God bless Nigeria. |

Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Just as the rich "fool", the rich man faired sumptuously everyday not knowing that one he would die and live the riches behind. He spoke of his five brethren who were yet alive suggesting he also died prematurely. Death comes to all men, but only a few men live. And the rich man wasn't among them despite all the riches had but the poor beggar called Lazarus, because the life of a man does not consists in the abundance of possession a man has. Don't wait till it's too realize this truth as the rich man did. |

Psalms 49:6-12 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever: ) That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. |
