Congrats to Lewis Hamilton for winning the Chinese GP. But man of the day was Mark Webber. From 18th to 3rd. Champion |

What happened with Jenson's pit stop, it seems he now wants to drive for Red bull . Finally Lewis does his talking on d track, very good performance throughout d race and spot on race strategy. For a while it looked like he might not even have started d race. I wonder if people will now give Whitmarsh some credit after blaming him so far. Pity for Rosberg and Mercedes who were in a decent position to snatch a podium but couldn't pull it out. Vettel finishing p2 on an ambitious 2 stop strategy is a very good result. But have to say RB chose a risky strategy knowing what was Lewis going to do. It was always going to be risky in d final stages of d race. |

Special mention for Mark Webber. With d disastrous weekend he had since late Friday, as well as d mechanical issues and his failure to make up much ground in first 15 laps it would have been easy for any other driver to have let their head drop. But he kept going, drove faultlessly and was rewarded with a podium that had looked impossible midway through d race. Now Red bull just need to sort out d gremlins in his RB7 so we can finally have a fully competitive and exciting championship race. |

@beaf Look again into that crystal ball of yours because mine says Alonso will be on FIRE once his car is "fixed". |

Looks like there will be no Turkish GP after this year. Another one of d tracks I like that will be gone. I just hope they will replace it with a good, competitive, racing track. |

Vettel didn't get much running. I wonder how he will do? |

Vettel takes pole with a lap record! Beat the previous one set by Montoya. Mercedes have stepped forward and pushed McLaren backwards (Rosberg 3rd, Lewis 4th). Red Bull p1 and p2 (both driver with and extra set of options) with closest challengers Mclaren p4 and p6. Looks like a possible Red Bull one-two to me. Vettel is something else when it comes to qualifying . Thankfully if Webber can put some pressure on him, we could see him also pull out exciting race performances. I hope Rosberg can steal a podium from p3. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by Beaf: 1:28pm On May 07, 2011 |
^ Lewis is almost certain to beat Rosberg off the line, Webber posibly too (though that guy blocks agressively to the point of irresponsibility). I wonder how McLaren could ever have let go of Adrian Newey? |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by montelik(m): 1:58pm On May 07, 2011 |
Hamilton doesn't look in great racing form this weekend, so I doubt he will be jumping anyone from d start, but you never know. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by montelik(m): 1:10pm On May 08, 2011 |
Beaf: Haha well Lewis is down in p6 after that start, meanwhile Rosberg looks really up for it. Mercedes are suddenly looking very competitive. |

oh man. . . Not a great start by the McLarens but watching the two drivers battle is simple FUN-tastic. Kudos to the team management for allowing the drivers to stunt-it OUT! CRACKING! |

Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by montelik(m): 2:20pm On May 08, 2011 |
Looks like Webber is setting up to attack Alonso for p2 in final 10 laps. Add d potential for another Lewis-Jenson scrap and we could have an exciting final few laps. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by montelik(m): 2:49pm On May 08, 2011 |
One more lap and Heidfeld would have caught Button for 6th. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by Beaf: 2:54pm On May 08, 2011 |
Are we set to see another boring Schumacheresque season? The other teams need to buck up to catch Red Bull. For me, it was a bit of a boring race with overtaking with the DRS being too easy and drivers attempting to cut through the field being punished by excessive tyre wear. The only real excitement came from the Lewis vs Jenson battles and Massa's general drive. I really don't think the FIA have got the F1 rules right, its all beginning to look too weird and plastic. The DRS should be thrown in the bin and tyres made a bit longer wearing. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by Beaf: 2:58pm On May 08, 2011 |
What do you guys think about Schumi? From 7 time WDC, that dude is beginning to look more and more like a highly paid clown. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by montelik(m): 9:41am On May 10, 2011 |
Schumi is clearly not going to reach his previous standards anymore, but there is no taking away what he has achieved so far. D guy has earned d right to clown around a little. Its interesting that even though most people agree that d rule changes have made f1 far more entertaining this season, after Turkey a large number of Mclaren/Hamilton fans are now bemoaning d new rules. I don't recall these pple complaining about tire wear when such strategies allowed Lewis to claim a victory in Shanghai. To be honest I am not sure how to evaluate d changes yet. DRS did make d Turkish GP seem a little too easy, almost "playstation" like, but I think on d whole f1 is better of with it. I think what we saw this weekend had more to do with d nature of d track being one very open to tyre wear and overtaking than anything else. Other GPs wont look like this one did. Most likely these changes will probably breathe life into other GPs where we would have slept off after d first few laps. |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by FBS: 1:03pm On May 18, 2011 |
The season has just started. I expect some kind of twist and turns. The team to watch out for obviously is REDBULL. But you can't just give up on the McLarens. They have some awesome pilot in LH!!! |
Re: Formula 1 Grand Hotel - 2011 Season by montelik(m): 2:51pm On May 18, 2011 |
Looks like d usual nonsense has started with d fia trying to ban/modify d blown diffusers so as reign in Red Bull for d other teams. They couldn't manage it with d "flexible wings" controversy, but will probably succeed here. Why can't d others just develop theirs or copy better, rather than try to change d rules mid-season to nullify another teams suspected design advantage. |
