The Bible never said anything directly about adopting a child. However, it does provide some insights.

In the book of 2 Samuel 12:1-3, it reads

So Jehovah sent Nathan to David. He came in to him and said: “There were two men in one city, the one rich and the other poor. The rich man had very many sheep and cattle; but the poor man had nothing but one small female lamb, which he had bought. He cared for it, and it grew up together with him and his sons. It would eat from the little food he had and drink from his cup and sleep in his arms. It became as a daughter to him

The Bible said the lamb became like a daughter to him. How much more when we adopt a child? Can't we get to love the child as our own? Yes, we can.

Jesus was adopted. Joseph wasn't his father. He even wanted to silently divorce Mary when he discovered she was pregnant. Yet, he raised him like his son. He trained Jesus to become a carpenter. Jesus was known as the son of Joseph, the carpenter.

How are we to treat adopted children? The way we want our own children to be treated. (Read Matthew 7:12).

When we adopt a child, it is a big assignment and one we must be fully committed to. We must love the child unconditionally (Read Psalms 15:1,4c)

At the end of the day, the true God will bless us for showing love to the lowly one (Read Psalms 19:11, Proverbs 19:17)
