There was a lot of time wasting, falling and feigning of injuries by players of US Bitam particularly their goalkeeper so the 7 minutes injury time added by the Referee was justified. . .as if it's the first time such will happen in football AND besides who tell you sey na penalty we take score our winning goal? undecided

Hope you won't be making these kinda lame and silly excuses on the 17th grin

ENYIMBA LEAVE IT LATE TO DOWN BITAM
by Sammy Wejinya 04 April 2011, 10:46

A fantastic header, seven minutes into added time gave Enyimba a 2-1 victory over Union Sportive du Bitam in the Caf Champions League clash at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday.

The win completed 2-1 aggregate victory for the Nigerian club.

It was a physically and mentally draining game for players and officials of both clubs as Enyimba dominated the opening exchanges.

Josiah Maduabuchi, Nonso ‘Lala’ Elias and Victor Barnabas all came close but it was defender, Valentine Nwabili who came closest to opening the scoring with a sumptuous free kick from twenty five yards in the 27th minute.

The effort was headed for the top right hand corner but Biteski, in goal for Bitam produced exceptional reflexes to deny the former Esperance left back from registering his name on the score sheet.

Biteski continued to have a great afternoon, producing a string of fine saves to deny the Enyimba players who seemed intent on putting the tie to bed before the break.

The Aba Elephants were hit with a body blow on the half hour as a rare Bitam foray upfront culminated in a freak goal.

Behzah’s effort, fortuitously delivered, was the completely against the run of play and it stunned the home side into more desperate forays into the Bitam half.

The half ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors and despite minor incidents involving the Bitam substitutes and pockets of Enyimba fans, the second half got underway with the home side intensifying their efforts to level the scores.

They got their reward on 53 minutes as Barnabas sent Biteski the wrong way from the spot after Phillip Auta was tripped by Salif Keita.

Enyimba still needed one more goal to advance but Bitam were having none of it as the Gabonese players defended manfully, knowing the prize was within touching distance.

They seemed to have done enough as scores still stood 1-1 until deep into stoppage time when Enyimba won a corner.

It was to be the last kick of the game but the Elephants saved the best for last as David Tyavkase’s corner was met by a powerful Josiah Maduabuchi header to send the packed stadium into raptures.

“It was a very tough match,” Chairman of Enyimba, Felix Anyansi Agwu told SuperSport.com.

‘We never underrated our opponents but these things happen. “We are grateful we went through and we just hope we go far in the competition,” he said.

The Aba side thus proceeds into the third round where they will me the winners of the JCA Treichville (Ivory Coast) v Al Ittihad tie.

I'm not really sure but normally, it should be 3 goals awarded to Kaduna United. It's usually 3 points and 3 goals awarded to a team in a case of a walkover win.
I heard Etoile are challenging CAF's decision to award Kaduna United a walkover win. I don't know how it will pan out in the end because the match was moved to Ijebu Ode and the Kaduna United players were present at the match venue and also the match commissioner appointed by CAF.
Meanwhile, TP Mazembe were beaten by Wydad Casablanca. If they fail to turn things around in the 2nd leg, they'll not make the group stage. I'm tired of TP's dominance of the CL. . . I pray Wydad gets a draw at Lubumbashi.
Re: CAF Champions League & Confed. Cup 2011 - News, Fixtures And Results by dominique(f): 11:25am On Apr 26, 2011
as long as the match was moved away from the volatile area, Etoile has no business not showing up. the walkover win should stand.
one goal win is not a confident advantage to take to a strong team like TP. i predict TP will crush them with 3 unreplied goals in lubumbashi

Here's the full story:

TP Mazembe disqualified from Caf Champions League for fielding ineligible player
The Corbeaux will not be able to defend their African Champions League title due to this ruling by the continental football body

Following a complaint filed by authorities of Tanzanian club Simba Sports following their Orange Champions League match against TP Mazembe, the Confederation of African football launched an investigation on the eligibility of Janvier Besala Bokungu.

The findings of the investigation were submitted to the Organising Committee for CAF Interclubs Competitions, and the result led to the decision to disqualify the Congolese club on the basis of Chapter VIII (Fraud), article 24, article 26 (Qualification of players) and article 29 of Orange CAF Champions League regulations.

According to the Caf statement, the replacement will be made after a play-off match, to be played next week in a neutral venue, between Simba and Wydad of Casablanca.

This disqualification means that the Corbeaux will not be able to defend their African Champions League title, which they won for the last two seasons running, allowing them to make it to the final of the Club World Cup in December.

African Champions League draw sees North Africa dominate Group B
The two groups will take part in a set of round-robin fixtures to determine the top four teams in Africa, though Congo's TP Mazembe is missing after being disqualified

The Confederation of African football (Caf) conducted the draw for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League this morning, putting the eight remaining teams into two groups of four each, where they will take part in a round-robin mini-league.

The notable name missing from the groups is that of TP Mazembe, as the team has been disqualified by Caf for fielding an ineligible player in the previous round of the elite African club competition.

Group B of the draw sees Ahly of Egypt, Esperance of Tunisia, Algeria's Club Alger and the winner between Simba of Tanzania and Morocco's Wydad de Casablanca, setting up a potentially all-North African group.

The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament, and the winner will represent Africa at the Club World Cup competition in December.

Group A

Hilal (Sudan)
Coton Sport Garoua (Cameroon)
Enyimba (Nigeria)
Raja (Morocco)

Group B

Ahly (Egypt)
Esperance (Tunisia)
Moloudia Club Alger (Algeria)
Simba (Tanzania) or Wydad de Casablanca (Morocco)
