Damn, safety is not considered something to engage in in Nigeria. Most electrical technicians don't believe in using insulating tape on exposed naked wire. This freaking tape costs N100 each, yet exposed cables are left that way! Even some kazeen auto electricians uses polythene bags to tie around exposed naked wire! If the car suddenly goes up in flames the village people are said to be the cause! Safety is often played with because no one pays the cost in the event of an accident.

In 1992, 79-year-old Stella Liebeck spilled a cup of McDonald’s coffee on her lap and suffered third-degree burns on her legs and her groin area. The burns required extensive skin grafts and eight hospital stays and resulted in $18,000 worth of lost income and medical bills.

She sued McDonald’s for the $20,000 but the company came back with an insulting offer of just $800. Liebeck hired an attorney and ended up winning $160,000 in compensatory damages and $480,000 in punitive damages.

The owner of the building should be sued.
If na oyinbo land that is the end of the business.
Apart from the family if you joke even the football club he plays for will sue for the loss of their asset

This country is more than a shit hole..

Still don't get why folks hype Nigeria.

No standard...
No policy......
No safety measures..
No awareness created..

What a shame!

RIP to the dead!!!!

He could have survived if it touched other part of his body other than his head. It must have fried his brain at that instant. The brain sends transmission and controls the powerhouse of the body which is the heart.

Hmmm..... .... he forgot to bend his head. Chairman: we always warn residents to be cautious. Aren't they saying it's the footballer's fault?
The live wire was there with no intention to be moved. Isn't it the chairman to get his people to enforce safety regulations?... his mouth need to be stoned.
No doubt... the owner of the building need to be charged with negligent homicide. But... we all know what will happen... and the n3glig3nce will continue.

The owner of the shop and the manager should be arrested and charged to court for third degree murder.

Everyone is shocked by the level of negligence and lack of concern to safety exhibited by the shop owner and/or landlord.
That's good to hear.
But if you really want to know how much importance Nigerians, generally, place on safety, then, check how many people that are wearing facemasks in your streets.
You'll be surprised it's only an insignificant few.

We as Nigerians are bleeped up people when it comes to safety.
There's no premium placed on life in Nigeria.

Owner of the property likewise the shop owner who may be responsible for the wiring ought to be arrested by now for negligence, why should a dangling naked wire be ignored?
Including the electrician that did the wiring. Just imagine! You leave cross a wire above a staircase and expect people to bend when passing through? What is wrong some of us?
