Actor Halle Berry made a public apology after receiving backlash for saying she was interested in playing a trans man. People weren’t happy with Berry’s remarks, particularly when trans people are so under-represented in film and television. today people cant say what they feel without having some lobby coming after them.... as much as a trans man could definitely play the role, i dont think there is a problem for her wanting to play the part too.... or Scarlett Johanson (as it was 1st reported)

as Trevor Noah said, many trans/gay men are still in the closet and therefore we certainly cant force them to come out and be actors (if they are not ready to be out). yes there are many trans actors out there but they might not have the profile that the director seek.

expecting only a trans man to play the role of a trans man OR a lesbian to play a lesbian role is nonsense (IMHO)

They came for Scarlett's head last year. They are called actors for a reason, to act. Yet again, trans people should be allowed to audition for cis roles

yes they did to Scarlett and she backdown, Now Halle Berry too... i think, just as much as there are talented trans actors out there, many of the people who lobby for "only " trans actors to play trans role, are missing the whole point.

movies are not just acting... marketing, notoriety of the actors etc play a big part too. expecting some fairly unknown actor to bring the same appeal as an A list actor, is not possible.
