A cousin of mine just got himself confused about his CGPA

He checked his result and found out he has 4.299. He asked if it could be rounded up as 4.3
In his school transcript, they use two decimal points system which I feel is same for every school.

Now the question is, Is it also a 4.3 Cgpa in his transcript or still 4.299??

I could have answered him, but I didn't have a Cgpa that is at a border like this very one.

NB: Mathematically, rounding up 4.299 to two decimal place is 4.30 but I know this may not apply to CGPA.

But this case is different, it's 4.299 not just 4.29.

make ham no vex u, my bio-mathematics lecturer will tell you that "0" is a very big number for your C.A or exam, as we progressed in study we got to understand that it in real-analysis

Since it is in 3 decimal places they re right to approximate, you don't approximate 2 when dealing with Cgpa

My advice is that you ask the relevant authority on what to do. Don't be used as a scapegoat.

If it was my school, the CGPA is definitely 4.30.

This is an example of someone who had Total credit point (TCP) of 172 and Total credit unit registered( TCUR) of 41. Dividing 172/ 41 gives 4.195 but it is rounded up to 4.20 in the result.

Seems you don't get the OP.

No school will round off 2 decimal place digits. Nobody will round off 4.49 to 4.5 for you. 3.49 won't turn to 3.5 as well.

The digit we are talking about here is the 3 decimal digit. 4.499 is different from 4.491. While someone with 4.491 might graduate with 4.9, another person with 4.499 CGPA might just have his own rounded off to 4.5.

A CGPA like 4.490, 4.491, 4.492, 4.493 and 4.494 cannot be rounded up to 4.50. Because it's approximation to 2 Decimal place still remains 4.49.

But you see CGPA's(border-kind) like; 4.495, 4.496, 4.497, 4.498 and 4.499 I feel that it would be round up to 4.50 because that's the right answer when they are all rounded up to 2 Decimal place.

But in my School,its always in 2 decimal Place.
So even if his CGPA is 4.299999999,
My School will only pick in 2 decimal place. No rounding off. Except, it is a Graduating CGPA then they would consider pushing the person to the Next Class of Grade.

Let him go to his Academic Advicer. He/she will Explain better.
Most times, what we know as our GP is not really Our CGPA....
Until School calculate for you.
